A few years ago some posters around here thought I was on-air personality Jake Daniels. Thanks for the demotion.
As I've stated before, my only role with the TEAM is as an avid listener and somewhat protective watchdog since Day 1. I have a little inside info about what goes on there through a work acquaintance but since Bryn Griffiths (a friend of mine) got fired, that's about it.
Is it true Bryn is an avid Flames fan?
Also, what is Jake Daniels (you) up to now anyway?
So Kyle Chase works for an oil company recruitment firm now or something?
I played against his son at Millenium Place last week, he was kicked out of the stands for arguing a call against his son in a men's league game... Classy Kyle, good job, good effort....
Team has been boring of late considering there is so much to talk about.
The drive to work and drive back home used to be all team 1260.. now all i get is commercials or boring topics.
Like what? It's absolutely dead at this time of year in the sports world. You've got the CFL and mid-season baseball...that's about it.
I listened to Bryn on 960's afternoon show last Friday. They had an entire hour devoted to the CFL, which was awesome. Meanwhile Gregor and Strudwick were talking about skydiving and potato chips up the dial on 1260...
Gene's okay on TV but during stints the past 2 summers subbing for Gregor he's been amateurish at best: uncomfortable, hesitant, self-conscious, ill-prepared and a poor interviewer. The low-point for me was his embarrassing rant against the Eskimos and their fans for their mistreatment of Danny Maciocia. It was absolutely painful radio.
Edmonton is a hockey town and it was only during the Moon days in Edmonton that the Eskies got a fair shake on the air. It is all about ratings and we have media guys here who will tell ya--when you do not talk hockey on open phones--the ratings go down. that is why most places either have or should have special slots arranged to talk other sports

So which couple of you guys kept spec up til 4:30 last year on specs deck?
He's considering barring St.Albert people so that they don't have a short trip home and keep him up all night this year.
Something tells me that he's probably one of those guys that has 3 or 4 pops after everyone leaves the party admiring the mess that is left from a good night of beer drinking.
For those of you starving for hockey discussion...
Tonight on The Pipeline Show:
- former Minnesota Wild Assistant GM now player agent Tom Lynn will talk about the unique aspect of hockey in Minnesota. There is no junior hockey there, no WHL or USHL, yet high school hockey is ridiculously popular. It's different from everywhere else but...it works. Why?
- There is a massive coaching conference this summer. I'll speak with one of the organizers about the list of big name coaches who will be giving talks - NHL, CHL, NCAA coaches galore.
- Then in studio for a full hour (8-9 pm locally, 10-11pm EST) I will be joined by two local guys who played in the WHL last year. Tyler Bunz from Medicine Hat and Travis Ewanyk of the Oil Kings. Both also happen to be Oilers prospects but that honestly was a coincidence.
Should be a fun night and for everyone complaining about the lack of puck talk lately, feel free to tweet questions for tonight (@TPS_Guy) and if you have any guest requests for July and August, feel free to let me know.
