STL Interested in Brenden Morrow + NYR, SJ, and LA
Fair enough. I won't limit the guy. He's probably help any number of teams. Is he the missing link? Probably not.
Arguable. Like I said: If he's healthy, then he is a valuable asset to any team looking to win now. Moreover, since he holds the cards vis-a-vis his trade and not a lot of years left in the tank, I would think he'd want to go where he has the best chance to win the cup and not to a team that is still rebuilding.
No he is not, guy is a UFA next year, and is on the downside of his career.. Go back and look at game 6 of the SCF and tell me you would trade Martinez for Morrow..
Maybe a guy like Vey or Hickey + a late pick..
I don't think we're dealing him within the division for prospects who are not NHL-ready yet especially since we want to make the playoffs this year. Moreover, you already have your top six with Kopi, Brown, Williams, Richards, Carter, and Penner and from the looks of it, your 3rd line is solid with Stoll, King, and Lewis. Why create an issue there?

I agree with you on that. That being said, a defenseman who is "not NHL ready" on the Kings is much different than other teams. The greatest organizational depth is at D. It was down to Hickey vs Voynov when Doughty was out with injury early on and in the end, Voynov was the guy who replaced Jack Johnson. I think Hickey IS NHL ready. Muzzin as well. They're just not better than Voynov or Martinez at this point and they don't play the type of game to beat out Mitchell, Scuderi or Greene.

Of the teams interested, I think the Sharks would be the best fit. I think the Rangers are looking for a more permanent fix and the Blues and Kings seem pretty set with their lineups already. I don't see a huge need for the Kings to want him at all and the Blues are pretty stacked on the wing right now even after trading Crombeen.
I don't know if the Stars should really trade Morrow now. I mean, his value is at an all-time low right now and unless Joe is presented an offer he simply can't refuse, I don't think he'll get great value this offseason. He could wait until the deadline. Morrow, if healthy and productive again, could prove to be a good asset to move to a contender at the deadline IMO. His value could be much higher then than it is now.

Still doesn't serve our purpose. Also, Hickey being a small-ish defenseman on a team already filled with 4 of them, doesn't make us physically strong on the back-end (not to take anything away from what Hickey can bring). We want some size there, IMO.
I guess we're not good trading partners vis-a-vis Morrow.
Na, but really, I'd take just about anything. I just want him out of the way. He won't be top six(thankfully) and I don't want him in the way of other guys' chances on the third line. Top four dman would be nice.
If LA is involved it can only be for someone like Hickey and a pick.
Brenden Morrow is heading out East or is staying in Dallas if GM Joe doesn't get any good value. He's certainly not trading him within the division for a defensive prospect who is essentially a bust.
Has anything been reported on where Morrow wants to go if he is traded? I'd think St. Louis would be near the top with Langenbrunner, Hitchcock, and Armstrong.
Besides Dallas owes us. Hull gave you guys a Cup, so it's time Morrow returns the favor.
I think the difference is that I value Hickey more than Martinez. So, yeah, I'd lean towards trading Martinez than to trade Hickey +.
I'm kind of hoping that Gagne may be part of the deal as well.
Not a chance IMO. Why would Dallas take Gagne when they are trying to make room for younger guys? Jagr and Whitney are simply fillers that are being used to plug a couple of big holes that Morrow obviously can't fill.
Martinez earned his spot. Hickey is going to have to take it now.

And we gave you guys Doug Armstrong. Favor returned.

Well, Gagne could be part of a 3 team trade. Bottom line is, if Morrow's a king, someone HAS to go, and most likely will be Gagne.
Best part about TH taking AM's spot is that they both shoot left.
