Knicks/Raptors Preseason @ Bell Centre

Looks like Linsanity will be taking over Montreal, along with Stoudemire, Melo.

Quote:
The New York Knicks and Toronto Raptors will play a preseason game in Montreal as part of the NBA's Canada Series.

The Knicks and Raptors will meet Oct. 19 at the Bell Centre. The MTS Centre will host the Pistons-Timberwolves matchup on Oct. 24.

Im guessing season ticket holders will get first dibs. Not sure about prices, for the game in Winnipeg tickets are suppose to range from $19.50 to $199.50

Its cool that the NBA is doing this. A lot of preseason games are exciting as the athletes seem wired to be competitive.

Here's one example from a preseason game in London, England.

Anybody think we'll ever see an NBA team in Montreal?

Lin is a free agent and according to rumours has a verbal agreement with the Houston Rockets.

I think he is a restricted free agent, so no matter what New York will match. Lin means so much to them on and off the court in marketing $$.

You are right, for some reason I thought he wasn't restricted. According to this article though, matching Houston's offer might be very cotsly for the Knicks.

I think its a strong possibility. The potential is there (many franchises in much smaller cities). Also, a lot of Canadians are coming onto the scene with superstar potential in Baseball, Basketball, Tennis, which can only help Canada as a whole.

Not in a Million years, took them 36 years to throw the Expos out! I'm cynical today.

seats would be empty just like at Alouettes and Impact games. NO player would want to play here.

Exactly. When Lebron and Kobe would show up the place will be packed but against the Atlanta Hawks you'd have 10k people. Montreal just isn't a sports town. Even in terms of hockey I'd say it's more the Canadiens than the actual game.

Bringing Basket-ball to Montreal depends on the youth and media. Basket-ball is a highly practiced sport in Montreal and highly watched. If the media, especially RDS, could get some decent analyst for some NBA games it would be great I mean, RDS 2 even had baby foot and darts. Why can't they have some basket-ball. TSN has done a great job covering the Celtics by getting ESPN broadcasts and the Raptors. If RDS could do the same at least for the Raptors at least only for the home games it would be good. RDS had March Madness coverage, but they have no basket-ball expert whatsoever. I even heard a someone comparing something with hockey. On Sports 30 they only have basket-ball news about Kobe and Lebron once in 3 months. At least if they could cover the free agency that would be the minimum to start.

Cheapest left is $75 a ticket? Not worth it for the Raptors and Knicks, sorry.

They seem to struggle since the last few games, including last year's losing streak. If they keep losing, the seats will get empty pretty quickly believe me.

The only other large pro-sport I could see being successful in Montreal is the NFL just because it's a money maker and has a lot of hype. This of course would be dependent on a large stadium being built in a central location. But hypothetically, let's say a brand new sparkling 60,000 seat stadium floated down from the sky along with a billionaire owner, I could see that being something that could work.

The CFL needs to expand. The league is becoming stagnant. They also need to attempt to lure mid level NFL players over like they used to. There's a serious lack of star power in the league now a days. It's only going to get worse when the Calvillo's and Ray's of the league retire.

Isn't Ottawa supposed to have a team in a near future or was it just a rumor
