We know that Ryder won't be resigning with us next off-season, so why not go ahead and shore up our D by moving him? Surely you could put something together for Bouwmeester with Ryder going to Calgary.
Who proposed that?

This only makes sense if Fraser takes a 3rd line spot or we're signing Doan IMO.

Connecting the 2 latest bits of news, I actually think throwing Glennie into any Morrow trade might make sense to boost the return.

If it is I'm for it. Just rip the band aid off quick and move on.

Hopefully.

I mean, they can't ALL read our board, can they?

Surely some team out there still thinks Glennie has value.

I don't think any trade in the offseason is urgent enough that they would have to sit a guy out of a prospect camp. Just wait until after things are finished for the day.

I agree adding Glennie could obviously boost the return of a Morrow deal, but it sounds like he was just resting his wrist because of the recent surgery.

Maybe move up from a 6th round draft pick to a 5th.

Seriously, this would be the epitome of selling low. Both players have worked themselves into a place where the value is way down. It might behoove us to take that chance on them ourselves.

What are the Stars' needs? What would you be looking for from the Avs?

The only reason they trade him now is that they really want to be rid of him. It has to be the "culture" thing and not about hockey if they're willing to dump him now.

Not interested in Jaden Schwartz.

All I want before the season is a good two way defensive defenseman with size.

Solid physical Dman, but I doubt he would waive his NTC for the Avs.

This kind of deal doesn't make sense to me the way some of the other ones did. It seems like making moves for the sake of making moves. I mean we already have a good balance of youth that's on the edge of breaking into the league and veteran players with contracts set to expire in one or two years, why not just keep Robidas and Morrow around until the trade deadline and then get rid of them when a rookie is ready to take their position.

As constructed this team is likely a playoff team or at least in the mix at the trade deadline. They arent going to sell Morrow or Robidas off a playoff team. Morrow would then likely walk for nothing in the offseason.

why not sell him off at the deadline even if we're in the playoffs? we did pretty much the same thing to Grossman last year.

grossman was really struggling and they likely felt fistric could do an adequate job. If morrow is struggling that much at the deadline we wouldnt get crap for him anyway. I also just really have a hard time seeing a playoff contending team trading its captain, especially one who is the type of guy who people think is a playoff warrior.

Most likely staying.

I wonder what kind of talks, if any, he's had with Gully regarding him on the PP in front of the net.

Everything about those quotes was contentious. I might be imagining things but it fels like there's some bad feelings going on between the two camps, and that their last talk was attempts to make peace. But Morrow's quotes about "anything can change suddenly" sure doesn't sound like someone who was reassured of their worth to the organization.

i imagined morrow talking in dirk's laid back attitude... so i'm interpreting it as morrow looking at the situation with objective reality... that's the thing with reading stuff... you can't tell exactly what emotional direction quotes are coming from.
