Chicago discussing Hjalmarsson package with Habs for Plekanec

First off, this is not Eklund. This is John Jaeckel, the Chicago Blackhawks blogger on hockeybuzz.com. Jaeckel says that Kane nor Subban are involved in trade negotiations, but Plekanec and Hjalmarsson are the center pieces of the deal. Montreal already has an excess amount of defensemen, so if this article is true then there must be some more moves coming up shortly. Bergevin also (obviously) has a history with Chicago, as he was the assistant general manager there last season. What do you all think could be added to Hjalmarsson to get Plekanec? Montreal is looking to get bigger, and is looking for a top-6 forward or a top-9 forward who is able to play in the top-6.

Pretty sure this was posted yesterday and that thread went 3 pages before being closed.

JJ = Eklund

Don't the Hawks have Sharp who played centre the year the won the Cup? He was pretty good from what I remember.

This is not legitimate, but whatever would be in the package for Plekanec other for Hjalmarsson in this hypothetical deal better be pretty damn solid. If not, it would be larceny by Bowman.

Seeing as the Habs have five LD's not so sure this makes any sense.

Markov
Kaberle
Emelin
Gorges
Bouillon

St. Denis

Tinordi and Beaulieu on the way (both 1st round picks).

We're not going into the season with Desharnais-Eller-Gomez as our centers.

Yuck, for your sake I hope not.

Plekanec would benefit Chicago plenty, but the trade doesn't do much for Montreal. Fair value or not, bad trade for Montreal.

No way Montreal trades Pleks.

It would take something alot more thn Hammer coming back to get it done. Unless Montreal has decided to rebuild and did it for prospects and picks, but even then I don't see it.

I think something like this could make sense. A defenseman going each way, and the Habs getting two young centers for Plekanec.

Assuming the Habs are going to go very young and also try to stockpile picks and prospects (which I think would be very smart for them).

Plekanec has to waive his no trade clause first and the return has to be more than this inconsistent defenseman. Plekanec is a SHUTDOWN center and an excellent penalty killer.

Gauthier needs to starting convincing the Hawks that Gomaize and Kaahberle are the best things since sliced bread for the Hawks.

overall - this would be great for chicago

get him and sign doan

a top 6 of

doan - toews - kane
sharp - plekanec - hossa

that being said this would not benefit montreal at all - so it won't happen

Hjalmarsson is redundant and Emelin is needed, plus I don't think our scouting staff is big on McNeil.

We need a good young player coming back not three dimes for a quarter type of trade.

The Habs' centre depth would look awful after a trade like this.

Plekanec must be one of the most underappreciated players on these boards.

If Bergevin trades Plekanec then he's obviously tanking the season. I really doubt he wants to start his general managing career that way!

Absolutely no way you get Plekanec for something based around Hjalmarsson. Habs could do a lot better.

Not a fair trade at all. Pleks still has the ability to put up a seventy point season. I'm sure he'll prove to us this year why he's been able to put up sick totals before.

I think you mean 2013 2nd, which the Hawks don't own right now. If we could get one from another team via trade I'd like this deal. Don't see Mtl going for it though. Plek would be a perfect fit on the Hawks. Also instead if Mtl wants an NHL ready guy they could swap the prospect for a big forward like Bickell(great cap hit) or maybe Stalberg(take out the 2nd).

So something like:
Plekanec
Emelin

Hjalmarsson
Stalberg
Kruger
or
Hjalmarsson
Bickell
Kruger
4th rounder
