News Article: A Busy Off-Season For Franson

Franson gets a lot of flack because he wasn't used much. Instead Schenn and Komi played more than him. Giving the perception that he's worse than the aforementioned. But when he did play -- he was better than both of the above. He was really a victim of circumstance with Ron Wilson who played favorites. The organization did have a lot invested in Komi and especially Schenn, but playing favorites and not playing your best -- costs games -- and ultimately cost Wilson his job.

We'll see a much better version of Franson this year IMO.

I'm a huge fan of Franson, I hope he sticks around a while in Toronto.

Get him signed.

He needs to sign a one year,come in hungry and steal Komi's job.He is more than capable.Then he takes Komi's bloated salary while Komi sits in the injury box or worse,Komi is washed up.

He wasn't given a fair shake this past season, of course by Wilson who has his favorites.

he wont be given those minutes he's gotta earn them and so far in his career he hasn't done it. and he's currently not better then Gardiner, Phaneuf, Liles and Gunnerson so he's not gonna be getting top 4 minutes unless someone gets injuried.

Good to hear that he wants to stay here. I liked his play and thought he should have been in the line-up more, would definitely like him to stay with us. He has lots of potential and is a pretty physical defenceman, so he'd fit in well now that Schenn's gone.

I like Franson. He can get a point shot through like no other. His size is good too and he's young. Hoping he improves and is given a fair amount of ice time.

never understood why komi played over franson. Franson is one of the few defensemen we have who can actually get a shot to the net and not shoot it wide consistently

I like Franson. Glad to see a contract is being worked out, and good to see him giving back to the community.

All B.C guys love to play for the Leafs despite all the bs you hear.. He was pissed from day 1 once Wilson sat him for no reason.. The guy plays with a passion and has a bit of an edge to him.. Maybe that rubed old man Wilson the wrong way... either way I got high hopes for him this year he will be the breakout star of the season

Franson had every right to be upset about being benched so schenn and komi could play.....franson is easily better than either of them, and they were only playing ahead of him thanks to their unjustified contracts......and he knew it.
