If Plecks is traded - Bolland is coming back our way!

Plecks + Beaulieu + Kristo - Bolland + Hjalmarsson + Saad or something like it.

comments? rebuttal?

Why do people throw in second round picks as if it were going tip the balance of a deal...

So something like:
Plekanec
Emelin

Hjalmarsson
Stalberg
Kruger
or
Hjalmarsson
Bickell
Kruger
4th rounder
Not interested in that at all as a Habs fan.

And who would center the Habs top line then? Absurd trade for Montreal.

Horrible proposal. I wouldn't trade plekanec alone for all that crap, and you want us to add emelin?

Love the 4th rounder, though.

Montreal already has an excess amount of defensemen, so if this article is true then there must be some more moves coming up shortly. Bergevin also (obviously) has a history with Chicago, as he was the assistant general manager there last season. What do you all think could be added to Hjalmarsson to get Plekanec? Montreal is looking to get bigger, and is looking for a top-6 forward or a top-9 forward who is able to play in the top-6.
Yet another example that anyone can be a blogger and this story is no different than many trade proposals on this very board, in the way that it only looks at the needs of one team, and not both. While Plekanec might be a good addition to the Hawks, the Habs don't need more defensemen but more importantly, they have no one who can take over for Plekanec at this time. I wish more people took the time to study all teams' needs before making stuff up. (e5)

No. Not even close. To get Plekanec you would need that package, there is no way Emelin is included. In all honesty, I do not know why we would be looking at another defenceman. Hjalmarsson should be removed from the proposal and Chicago should make an offer based around what Montreal needs.

Plekanec for Saad and 2013 1st and Jimmy Hayes.

Chicago gets the 2nd line center they need, Montreal gets a couple of winger prospects and a pick for their rebuild/retool.

Because, sometime they do. Look what the Habs did this draft with an abundance of 2nd round picks.

PK Subban? Snagged him in the 2nd round once upon a time. Toronto needs their very own Trevor Timmins...

Again, the Habs turn this down very quickly. Neither deal is close to decent value for the Habs.

Take Beaulieu out and it is possible. With Beaulieu it is impossible.

No, no, no.

Ok, when making a trade proposal for one of a team's best players the following should go through your mind:

1--What does the opposing team need.
2--Does the trade make you feel like you lost something good to gain something good. If your offer is a bunch of players that you really don't mind losing, chances are the other team really is not interested in them for the guy you want.

Montreal is looking for a good lw with skill and some size--Saad.
Montreal could use a good rw with some size and hitting ability--Jimmy Hayes
Montreal is rebuilding/retooling and needs high picks--2013 1st

Those are the 3 types of pieces to get a guy like Plekanec. For us to lose Plekanec, it would be painful so we would need a return that would help us. If Hawks fans think the loss of Hayes, Saad, and the 1st is painful, then they understand our feelings and are starting to understand what a fair trade looks like. We do not need to trade Plekanec. We actually need him for another year. So, to get him, you need to give us pieces that will help us to replace him while ensuring we can still build towards success.

The offers I trashed above would be equivalent to the following:

Montreal gets Sharp

Chicago gets Emelin, Leblanc and a 2013 2nd.

If that seems unfair (it is) then you can start to understand why I have trashed the trades previously discussed.

I can't see Plekanec going to Chicago without Sharp coming back.

Hjalmarsson
Sharp

for

Plekanec
Diaz + 2nd or
Beaulieu

Plekanec >>> Hjalmarsson
Sharp >>>>> Diaz

A 2nd in 2013 to balance it out.

I would do a deal of:

Montreal:
-Plekanec
-Beaulieu ( I personally think he's an overrated propect...Tinordi will be a top pairing defenseman, Ellis and Thrower will be top 4... enough said)
-Weber
-2nd 2012 (Nashville)
-5th 2012

Chicago:
-Sharp
-Hjalmarsson
-Danault

Good line-up would be:

Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Sharp - Eller - Gionta (Sharp and Gionta will aide in Eller's development)
Bourque - Leblanc - Prust
Moen - White - Armstrong/Nokelainen

Subban - Gorges
Emelin - Markov
Hjalmarrson - Kaberle/Bouillon/Diaz

Price
Budaj

That in my perspective is a Stanley Cup contending team

No it really isn't, it's a team full of question marks, what ifs and maybes.

How far off would Bolland/Hjalmersson for Plekanec/Emelin be for value? Who would need to add? What piece(s) would you want added from the other side to make the trade of this basic framework?

THIS, plus they have enough depth at center but not real no.1 centermen so I'd keep what they have if I were Bergevin

A more valid comparison would be:

Sharp>>>Plekanec
Hjalmarsson>>Diaz or Beaulieu or 2nd

It really is amazing to hear how great all of these Hab players are.... how is it they managed to end in the bottom 3
