I want to put forth, since sometimes conducting a live draft can get quite tricky with 20 teams, maybe since we have time now we can do a board draft and then have them assigned during the season? Nothing worse than missing out on a live draft
That's normal. I make myself cry every night.

Im all for a board draft. If we do NHL teams i would like to be the Flyers i would ask for Calgary but feel it sould go to someone else.

You mean like team names? Because I am calling my team The Big Fat Titty****ers and I don't care what you say about it.

No reason why we need NHL team names since we are not using their rosters.

Hmm Sven Baertshi with Datysuk mmmmmmmmm

You naming your team the oilers?

On other notes:

How does one keep track of the prospect/unsigned list? My understanding of yahoo is that players do not appear until after they sign NHL contracts.

Ok, drafting through the board makes sense actually, we'll do that.

We could have a list of the teams prospect pool on the yahoo message board, or on here.

So, here are the members so far:

1. Me
2. Tfong
3. drewskiv
4. TheGleninator
5. GLaDOS
6. Devilspuppet666
7. Feel The Heat
8. Autograph
9. shidoshi
10. nogger
11. Jarome Iginla
12. Spacecorn
13. FlaMeRss
14. Ynnek
15. KiwiFlamesFan

And here are some of the stuff that most have agreed on:

*Keepers (have not decided on how many keepers, or if we will keep our whole team)

*Big rosters. We will most likely do full team lines.

*Offline draft. It will take place on here.

*From my understanding, there will be no prospect draft this season, but it will take place next season.
The prospect draft for next season and beyond, will have 1-2 rounds. We will post our teams prospect pool on the yahoo message board, or on here.

Now, should we keep our whole team year after year, or should we have a # of keepers?

10 I like. Forces you to make hard decisions and leaves next year's draft with some decent players to pick up, especially when we're having at least 15 people in our league.

10 cool with me and i was saying if u want to draft a prospect u can the first year if the draft was like 26 rounds or so that would give u your 20 starters and 6 injury back ups or prospects too.

12 forwards
6 dmen
2 goalies
6 backups or prospects what ever that person desides to draft

Don't like cap rules Now we're starting to get too complicated lol. I don't actually have the same time as a GM to calculate cap adjustments lol.

Yeah, using a cap will take much more time.

Also, 10 keepers sound good to me!

Let's not have 2 goalies, with such a large amount of players that would destroy anyone unlucky enuf to not get a duo goalie pair. We can do 20 teams with one goalie each. Simply put there are not 40 goalies in the league so some people are going to get smoked.

Usually you only do two goalies for leagues of ten or less.

Also if we do keeper limits we won't need prospect pools either, those ate only for full keeper teams as you draft prospects the year they are eligible anyways.

There were 45 goaltenders that played 25+ games last year it could add an interesting element to the game to have 2 goalies especially when their stats would be averaged when they do play just make sure that the goalies only have to play 2 games a week.

Of nobody else has an issue I guess. I'm just not a big fan of duo goaltenders especially since minimum games means that some people almost always get boned in larger leagues since there are not enough starters usually for min 3 games a week.

I prefer a full roster, so around 23 players.

4x3 offence
3x2 defence
2 goalies

3 on the bench

But I prefer even less keepers... 10 IMO is a bit much on a full roster. That's half of your defence core, your top two lines, AND your starting goaltender, seeing as prospects are usually protected anyways.

There's no hard choices, just changing/drafting your third and fourth line and 2 or 3 defencemen isn't enough IMO. Also, with less keepers, I find people tend to not go on "automatic" i.e. lose interest. There's more things to manage and look out for, new star players to draft, and keeping an eye on a much better FA pool at the end of the season.

I would like to suggest 7 keepers. That's 1 offensive line, 2 defencemen, and 1 goaltender, plus one other random player.

What's the point of a keeper league with so few keepers tho? I haven't done keepers before but isn't supposed to simulate a gm long term? Wouldn't less keepers make it like a normal draft?

How many keepers would you like in a 15 player league? Winner can get 1-2 additional keepers

I'm down with large rosters tho.

What's the standard keepers in a league?

Im in two keeper leagues one is 16 players only 2 keepers and the other is 32 players 28 keepers. I would like to do one of 16 players 10 keepers so it would look like

2centers
2rw
2lw
2dmen
2goalies
6backups for roation durning the week
Then u have say 10 keepers end of the season

also with 20 teams big rosters look really watered down u start having to draft oilers then and we dont want that lol

I like big rosters, gives more emphasis on deep teams rather than one or two superstars winning the league.
