In terms of ability, I'd agree that I'd rather see Marc Staal on the Blues than Yandle. But, I agree with Deko. 3 years is a long time away, but the price that we would pay for Marc Staal wouldn't be cheap and I'd want him here for longer than that.
It might never come about, but I think at towards the end of his contract he would be interested in at least hearing what Carolina had to say, considering they would be able to offer Eric an extension at the same time and they could all realistically have NTC's.
I'd prefer Yandle over Staal. If Pietrangelo ever got hurt, Yandle would be more suited to take over than Staal would be.
If Pietrangelo gets hurt, you would probably see Shattenkirk get to play that role with either Staal or Yandle. I think Staal would cost a little less and is more ideally what I'm looking for to fill that position. The only thing that concerns me is Staal's last injury. I would be equally happy with either as long as we dont severly overpay.

Shattenkirk is not at that level yet, and the playoffs showed that. I don't see us meeting Phoenix's asking price anyway, but at the same time, I don't see Staal becoming available, so both options aren't very realistic IMO.
If we do add someone, we will need someone who can pick up some of Colaiacovo's powerplay time, and Staal does not fill that.
Everyone has Rattie going to CGY for jaybo.. Why not bring him here?
CGY:
Stewart
Dags
First
STL:
Jaybo
Sven
I'd be hesitant in this, but I might pull the trigger knowing Sven would be with rattie
As previously mentioned, Calgary would want the Moon, mining rights in the asteroid belt, and at least two of the rings of Saturn before they would trade Bartschi...
Bartschi is Calgary's Tarasenko. Compound that with a fanbase that's a bit more...passionate...and an organization that's currently a bit less talented (and much more frustrating), and you are left with a set of circumstances that's not likely to foster logical or constructive conversation.
Another horrible trade proposal from me.. I know, but just like to know you're thoughts. The rangers currently have Richards, anisimov, Boyle, halpern, Stepan, and Casey wellman (connecticut player) on their depth chart at center. Could a guy like Brian Boyle be acquired with a draft pick? He could fill our third line center hole.

I don't see the Rangers moving him, honestly. He's their go-to center in the defensive zone, and he does a great job in that role. IMO, the Rangers would have to undervalue him significantly to let him go for what I would consider to be a "reasonable" return. If Gaustad netted a first at the deadline, then the Rangers would have every right to expect that and more for two full years of Boyle.
If the Blues had him as their 3rd line center, I wouldn't complain. His offensive tools are a bit more limited than what I would ideally like to see with the wingers he would be playing with, but he brings an awful lot to the table beyond that and I think he would fit in well with Hitchcock's system.

somebody offered that earlier today on here what a joke
i am bored and wishing that oshie would sign anyday now, but i was thinking.
would someting around oshie+ for kulikov work? (thinking we would be the one adding, not completely sure...)
if not kulikov what other LDs that we dont talk much about (not gio or yandle)
and if oshie had to go...he must go EAST!
just checking out the FLA board and they say the have 8 d men on one way deals and are looking to add first line talent (their example is Ryan) although oshie is not ryan he is arguably first line talent on a good number of teams
as i am writing this i am still not completely convinced myself to trade oshie for defense as we have some "ifs" with stewart and just how many years away tarasenko, schwartz, and rattie are from contributing nightly...and yes i feel the tank and schwartz can contribute this year but oshie is good for 50-60(+) and great two way play
since im already second guessing, its prolly not the greatest idea but hey something to pass the time

Reason: adding
Still they chatter away about Berglund. It's going to have to be a 2nd line center + or I don't see it happening
From Twitter world...

We would not add to Oshie for Kulikov, that would be horrible. Our need for a defenseman is not that bad.
I would trade Oshie+ for Kulikov all day. Florida wouldn't, though.
If we pretend for a second that the Blues did deal Berglund to Montreal without a center coming back, I have to believe it would come with acquiring a more proven center like Stastny or Krejci.

Hopefully we have the center already in hand. That's what makes it so unbelieveable for me.
