My back is telling me it’s finally time to get a wheeled hockey bag. Unfortunately, I don’t have much storage space, so I’m looking for a wheeled bag that is collapsible, meaning when it doesn’t have equipment in it you can flatten it.
Does such a thing exist? Can anyone recommend one? Help? Thanks.
Get a backpack. It's lighter weight, can fold flat, goes in and out of the car easier, and goes up and down stairs easier.
Is that what you're using? Reason I ask is I'm using an extra big rolling player bag and might be looking into something smaller. I got it so I could pack extras in there but it's so damn big it barely fits in the car and out the locker room doors after a game with 15 guys in there
Even though I like that it rolls, something smaller like a backpack might be desirable.
Yes. I've done a wheeled bag and hated it. I play all over the metro area in probably 15-20 rinks and a lot of them have stairs or other crap to navigate. The backpack feels pretty light compared to a bag that's only on one shoulder.
Don't bother with a wheeled backpack. It just makes it twice as heavy. I hate wheels.
The backpack takes some creative packing, but all my gear fits:
- pants in first, standing up
- shin pads in the pant legs
- helmet at bottom, with mouth guard and cup in it
- gloves/elbow pads in next
- shoulder pads on top
- rolled up home/away jerseys on top
- skates in the skate pockets
- home/away socks, under gear, skate socks in the front pocket
The Warrior Vandal backpack looks pretty sweet. I like that it opens up from the top, which is easier than opening up front the front.
i have the Reebok 10k wheeled backpack. I love the space in the bag and it also has vented side pockets for your skates. there are plenty of pockets all over the bag to store tape, socks, towels, etc. Hockey monkey has it at this link:
