Really? For what they paid, Vokoun did well last year. I know he was injured, but he still played solid when he wasn't.

Wasn't being sarcastic, I just thought I remember reading from back then around here that he was a two-way player. Guess I have him confused.

I think this is a smart move by Washington. Whomever signs him to a multi-year deal next year will be the fool.

Never seen such an up and down opinion about a player around here.

Personally, I think it's a solid signing.

Yep, really nothing to lose and potentially everything to gain with a 1-yr 600k contract for a guy who's shown some scoring flair in the past.

Wolski is an up and down player, but at such a low price, it is hard not to like this deal. Could end up being quite a steal, maybe the biggest this offseason.

He's gonna play and produce like a 600k player.

You say that as if you don't expect Stoa to make an impact.

Wolski always seems to get off to strong starts with teams so 600K should be worth it for the first 10-12 games, then they can bench him

He'll never sustain it though. Waive him the moment he begins to slump. I dont care if he's got fifteen goals in the first two months of the season. As soon as he hits the skids, ditch him ASAP. He has never been able to work his way out of a difficult stretch.

That part's covered, actually. Per Mirtle, it's believed to be a two-way deal. https://twitter.com/mirtle

Well, that's make or break for the guy. Hopefully the big drop in salary is his wake up call.

So the Caps top six forwards thus far appear to be:

Ovechkin-Backstrom-Laich
Wolski-Ribeiro-Brouwer

I know Laich is normally a C/LW, so either he gets bumped to the third line or he's going to have to play on his off-wing on one of the top two lines.

That leaves the following as their bottom six forwards:

Hendricks-Johansson-Beagle
Ward-Perreault-Crabb

While the Caps have finally addressed their need to improve their center depth, adding another legitimate top six forward would really help their overall forward depth.

Good signinf for the Caps. 600k to go to an offensive powerhouse where he will likely find his game back is a friggin' steal.

Right, but the deal didn't work out for Vokoun. I think he thought he could come to DC, win 35 games and maybe a playoff round or two, and get a big deal this offseason. That obviously didn't work out for him.

I agree with this. He always lights it up when he goes to his new team. So expect a hot streak to start the season. Decent price for the Capitals. If he doesn't pan out, no big deal.
