Wolski Signs With Washington

Nobody can tell me Wolski isn't worth $600,000 for SO's alone yet Dale Tallon sits idlely by.

Steve Goldstein ‏@goldieonice

Wolski stays in the division, now. a Cap. “@kcarrera: Wolski's one-year deal with the #Caps worth $600,000.”

Meh. No big loss, in my opinion.

Still happy that he is not on the team. Would have won us a few shootouts but his play is horrible. Washington fans will be happy about him

I would definitely say he is worth that. He can put up a decent amount of points and score in the SO.

What makes you think Wolski WOULD have come back. He's a FREE agent and can go where he wants. So if the Panthers had offered him $700000, would $63000 post tax dollars be enough to keep him from going where he WANTS to be when he made $3,800,000 last year?

The division keeps getting better. I don't care what you say about Wolski, that player helped us win a shootout or two that clinched the southeast. I can expect him to win some shootouts for Washington as well. With him and Ribiero they have two very good shootout people. A strength they've created via a cheap trade and a cheap signing in free agency.

I would've taken Wolski for probably 1.5M to be honest.

I'm wondering what Tallon is doing, we are still losing offense. Making room for something? (As in roster spots, not $).

I'm pretty sure what some are saying is, he is definitely worth that and that they would have liked him on this club for this amount. I think he's worth more than that and he'll be an asset for the Caps.
At the end of the year when we were unable to win, he took care of the Habs by scoring our only goal in regulation and the only goal in SO, so yeah, I do think we should have kept him.

He was the one that helped us come back from when we were losing 2-0 to Carolina in the third with five minutes left, we came back to win 3-2 in the SO. That was a great game.

I think he believes some of our top prospects are ready to play for the Panthers.

Not going to waste 600k when he believes Howden, for example, will provide the same if not more offense.

I fear Tallon is banking all our offense to come from Hubs, Howden and what ever other rookies

There are plenty of UFA's of his caliber left, some much better. It sucks to see him go to Washington. It seems like the SE is getting a lot of new quality players.

Hubs should definitely produce. Howden, may or may not make the team. At this point, I hope Bjugstad goes pro and centers the second line.

I think Tallon is planning on getting a SO specialist or a straight up scorer at some point this offseason. I hope thats not just me trying to comfort myself.

I remember how much flack I got from people in this board for chewing out Wolski during the playoffs. Turns out I was right.

I probably would've signed him for up to $1 million. He's not THAT bad a player when motivated and can win you a few points through the shootout. Could be that he didn't like how he was being utilized on our team last year, who knows.

I would've liked him back just to help our abysmal shootouts, but it's a bit difficult to slot him into our line-up.

So 600,000 is worth if for a complete waste of a roster spot that will bring nothing to the table except Maybe score in a shootout of which the average participation is 10 games a season and an outstanding percentage is scoring 30% of the time?

No thanks. I'd rather let the young guns have their chance at the competition and lose than to a waste a roster spot on that scrub.

He'd be a waste of a roster spot. I'd rather roll the dice and see if Howden can make the team or not.

Clearly Tallon has failed us and the team...we didn't get wolski, lol.

Don't get some of you.

This made me laugh. I have trouble understanding why our fans give Tallon such little breathing room and such little room for error when other members of the organization including players seem to get free passes.

He served a purpose - fixing a deficiency on the shootout and securing a few extra points. Well worth a 3rd round pick IMO.

In the playoffs he was benched, which probably left a bad taste in his mouth.

He's going to sign a one year deal somewhere so he can play for a bigger paycheck next July. That 'somewhere' won't be here.

It is what it is. Not really worthy of emotional investment.

imo, wolfski will put over 20 goals and over 15 assists next year. that's without his help in the shootout. very good signing imo. he prob didn't want to be here after his lack of time in the playoffs. i also think dale didn't want to give him a roster spot. betcha he get 2-3.5 mill after next season do to his season performance in wash. evidentally he wants to prove something here, or he would of signed over seas for more money!!!
