Would anyone think of giving up Stepan, Hagelin,Dubinsky, if we would get back Nash, Brassard, Umberger? They get younger and re-tool, getting close to the same production while decreasing their cap position. we get that top line guy in nash, a replacement for dubinsky, and **** salary in umberger but 40 pt guy.
Nothing else should need to be added, but would you be interested in something like this?

Based on last years performance and looking at a CBJ team without Nash I started to wonder whether CBJ has a very good chance to pick #1? Clearly there are no guarantees that CBJ will pick 1st or McK's reputation will remain high but here's the squibb.
You realize that even as the worst team in the league you still have a less than 50% chance to land that #1 pick, right? That's pretty far from a guarantee. And that's assuming they actually finish first...should another team actually suck worse all bets are off. lol
I really wish Sather would pull a Brooklyn Nets and tell Howson, this is the final offer, you have 24 hours to accept or we're out.
I am so beyond tired of this Nash thing. If we're going to spend assets for an improvement you start talking to Poile now about Weber. There are always other options in this league, if Howson's going to be that idiotic, let him lose his job over it.
It would be amateur of Sather to do that. The only people who are upset about the time dragging on are impatient fans. Why should he make any threats? And again, Sather is working every other angle to improve this team. If/when he pulls off another deal and Nash becomes irrelevant so be it. But for Sather to try and force Howson's hand likely means he can't return to that discussion later should other options not pan out. Sather is playing this one perfectly and I'm glad for that.
and how do we expect to fit Nash, Brassard AND umberger under the cap if all we'r'e giving up is Dubinsky and 2 ELC contracts?
haven't put that much thought into this one yet, ill get back after I cap geek. We'd still be 5 million under the cap, that is the price we have to pay.

You do realize what "if" means, correct? I sure do, and used it because I admitted earlier that the price Howson is asking may not be worth it.
I'm going to assume you don't watch Nash play often. He's a good defensive winger, and he's good on the penalty kill. During the Jackets' two best seasons he stepped up his two way game and proved he could be a complete forward. At the Olympics in 2010 he was counted on to play on Canada's shutdown line and did a great job, specifically in the game against Russia where he was playing opposite Ovechkin.
The only reason he's been playing "soft minutes" is because the Jackets' coaches since Hitchcock have tried to save him for late in games - something most of their fans are upset with and probably one of the biggest reasons Scott Arniel lost his job.

We would be 5,466,666 under the cap, we could resign Dezotto to the expected contract, and add a defense man just incase erixon isn't ready, so we are stuck with bickel again.

That is why Sather isn't going to deal him. He needs Howson to bite on Dubi & Anisimov. That would be ideal. Stepan still has time to grow and I haven't given up on him regardless of how little (raw) skilled I think he is.
Want to keep going at this? You're dead wrong, and a quick glance at his stats under Hitchcock shows he is a good defensive forward when his coach uses him in tough situations (defensive zone starts, PK, etc.)
Stepan might not have elite skill but he has the brain. Enver Lisin had skill that would shame a god. It got him nowhere because he was dumb as a rock. I'd rather have a player with the hockey IQ.

But that was several years ago and he is on the decline at 28, so he obviously can't be used on the PK or be expected to play responsibly away from the puck now.
