If the caps are lucky he'll score a couple of big shootout goals. By halfway through the season you'll be screaming to release him. Unless he wakes up he'll suck like he has been. It's no accident he's not wanted.

For the money, not a bad signing.

Mueller got triple. They are the same player. Makes this look better.

Was it ever confirmed if this is a 1- or 2-way deal?

From a Rangers fan: I don't care if his caphit is 0, I would never want him on my team again.

The definition of uninspired.

This seems like Wolski's last chance to stay in the NHL---will making near the league minimum (on a 1-way deal) finally motivate him again?

That he would be non-tendered was a no-brainer; that he would end up with an 85 percent reduction in salary from one season to the next is a real shocker though (the all-time record is 88 percent).

As for his replacement, Peter Mueller - I think that the Panthers will love him...IF his concussion problems are behind him.

Coyotes fans say Amen as well...but at least they turned him into Michal Roszival.

Well, even if half of the NHL teams figure out his shootout move he'd still be a very effect shootout specialist. And Budaj clearly knew what was coming here and still got beat. On the other hand, it is Budaj.

Great signing, I could see him getting at least 15+ goals. A lot of the fringe playoff teams have been hellbent this off-season to improve their teams.

Unfortunately he doesn't have the brains or the intensity.

I hope he can still carve out a career as a 2nd line winger because he seems like a great guy (and he's Polish, so I'm biased), but I'd be stunned at this point. He doesn't seem to have that ability. All skill. Nothing else.

On Ribeiro's wing, I think this guy will score again...provided he even gets top-six minutes in DC.

Hopefully the fact he's training with Gary Roberts this offseason is an indication he's serious about proving people wrong!

To win an offseason, don't you have to at least get a little better? Not, almost break even?

There's also the Hunter for Oates swap, so maybe that's where it comes from...

In the out column, the first two players (Wideman, Semin) tallied points but were liabilities in several other respects.

The last two are great character guys, but they're tailing off rapidly. Appreciate their service, but I wouldn't have brought them back, personally.

The Caps still need to do more to replace some of those points heading out the door, but they've made judicious rather than extravagant purchases thus far this offseason. They have plenty of cap space and flexibility remaining, should they decide to use it.

Losing wideman was a win, knuble didnt do anything last year. Halpern was mostly a fourth line center. And semin dont know yet he will resign or not. I think the Caps did well this offseason. But they need to do more.

Just one time Hendricks needs to take that shot from between the f/o circles and then it will always work.

I like Wolski, but the guy is lazy. If he ever would change his character and actually tried, definitely a top 6 forward.

When Semin and Wideman were on the ice, one of two things were going to go, my heart or my TV screen.

Probably problems with his effort...which is why he wound up in the doghouse of not only John Tortorella, but also Kevin Dineen.
