Signed: Ben Holmstrom to a two-way contract for one year worth $550,000
A little late for our beat writers to be up to confirm this, but it is "announced" via a couple twitter sources. I'll post as a rumor until it's confirmed, if the mods could take care of that if/when it happens.
The Philadelphia Flyers' organization has signed forward Ben Holmstrom to a two-way contract for one year worth $550,000. Next season will be Holmstrom's fourth season in the Flyers' system, as he has split time between the Adirondack Phantoms and Philadelphia.
Holmstrom joined the Flyers' organization in the 2009-2010 season, as he took part in 13 games for the Phantoms posting three goals and nine PIMs.
For the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons, Holmstrom was under an entry-level contract with the Flyers with a cap hit of $750,000 each year.

Hopefully he really challenges for a 4th line spot in camp. He seems like a good kid, from what I can understand they liked him as captain up in the mountains. He didn't impress me much in the games he got with the Flyers last season though (I liked him better in 10-11), he seemed to get tired while playing on the fourth line, which isn't a good sign, but maybe he had a cold or something like that just when he was called up.
He's OK for the 4th line but I think that is his ceiling.
He seemed feistier to me in the few games I saw him play with the Phantoms last year and that is somewhat confirmed in his doubling of penalty minutes.
Here's hoping Talbot gets moved to wing because honestly he is horrendous at faceoffs (nothing to do with Holmstrom but thinking about our 4th line center problem we have)
