yes, he wouldn't have said that. He always said he isn't sold on goalies that haven't proven anything. Crawford has never proven anything.

Lets be fair. They don't always run around like chickens with their heads cut off. At least 1/3 of their time is spent just standing around watching the puck carrier.

and when was his chance? last season where he almost stole the series against Vancouver? Or this season when the team miraculously forgot how to play defence, or score goals in the first 58 minutes?

Crawford had his chance... he sucked at it. Soft goals like Crawford got have nothing to do with the D

are we talking playoffs? Because like I said, he almost singlehandedly won us the series against a much superior Vancouver team.

and let in 2 soft goals in the Phoenix series

in the end, everybody agrees that our goaltending is bad.

Most fans think this, experts think this and our GM wants to improve goaltending

Yes, he is and even if he has a bounce back year, he will only be average. That's what happens with a non-athletic goalie who's only real attribute is his positioning.

It's a bottom 5 tandem in the league

TB, TOR, CLB, ~OTT

And none of those teams are sniffing a cup

Well let's see how it shakes out next season, ... as I don't see us getting lu or Bernier..

In regards to the other teams you listed, do you think they have other issues besides goaltending that would be holding them back ?...

You're right.. I was caught up in exaggeration and hyperbole right there. Upon reflection, I do admit that Chicago does spend alot of time in their zone simply standing around. The most common is the ol' each Dman at his post, watching the puck-carrier behind the net, ignoring the slot and then not being able to block the pass out to the slot with their ever impressive "stick checking". Yes, they are quite the defensive powerhouse, I should say, it's puzzling how any goaltender could struggle in such a system -- Oops, did I say "system"? I meant cluster****.

even if Craw bounces back, he is average at best. He would be worth his contract but not a Top goalie in the league. I doubt we have a team that can win it all with average at best in goal

This team won't win it all with Jonathan Quick in net.

NYR, STL, NJ, PHX, LA, and WSH finished where they did to a tremendous goaltending but also to a solid defensive system.

Vancouver won their Presidents trophy due to a weak division, an elite offensive system, good enough defense, and very solid goaltending.

I don't want to see our Hawks sitting on a 1 goal lead for 45 minutes like the Coyotes, but they do need a much, much better defensive system. Without it, even Rinne and Lundqvist would look bad on our team

Crawford bounces back or the season is going to suck. Stan might be forced in to making a desperate move. Hawks definitely have the cap room if nothing else happens in FA.

I wouldn't consider Belfour unathletic the way came out and played the puck. Plus his rebound control was superb or he steered the shot into the corner/stands.

he was unathletic. He liked to play the puck, but he was no athlete. And thats not an insult, Eddie is the reason I'm a Hawks fan

What, are you smoking crack? Put Jonathan Quick on this team and the Hawks are instant favorites. You actually think Quick would not make a difference on this team?

He didn't say Jonathan Quick wouldn't make Chicago better.. he said, even with Quick, Chicago won't win the Cup with the way they play defense and break out of their zone.

They need a completely revamped defensive structure/system and PK setup.. if they don't address those two things, it's going to be another frustrating season because Chicago has more than enough talent to get past the 1st and 2nd rounds, at least.

I agree. Without those things you just mentioned being fixed, the pp improving, and an more consistently effective offensive strategy, it doesn't matter who is in goal because the team isn't going to win the cup.

Quick gets this team to the 2nd round. The hawks problems are clearly x's and o's related.
