Maybe we could get Upshall, Matthias and Shore but drop the second rounder. That pretty much fills up all of our needs

i dont see a Rick Nash trade being realistic for the Bruins and I think the team can keep Tim Thomas until he gets his act together {I would assume after christmas he will want to burn off the last year of his contract and will request a trade at that point}

Until Thomas actually comes back to report he will be suspended and he will still owe the B's a year of service if and when he ever does choose to come back... so trading him for crap IF THEY DONT HAVE TOO is just stupid.

And they dont have to with this roster..

Cap hit $69, 922, 143

Tyler Seguin/Patrice Bergeron/Brad Marchand
Nathan Horton/David Krecji/Milan Lucic
Jordon Caron/Chris Kelly/Rich Peverly
Shawn Thornton/Gregory Campbell/Daniel Palle
Marc Savard {LTIR} {someone from providence will actually be the 13 and 14 forwards depending who deserves the callups}

Johnny Boychuck/Zdeno Chara
Dougie Hamilton/Dennis Seidenberg
Adam McQuaid/Andrew Ference
Tory Krug

Tukkas Rask
Anton Khubodin
Tim Thomas {suspended but counts against caphit}

this team has a few million in bonus money counting against the cap hit... not all of it will be earned. It relies heavily on two rookie dmen but if one might falter they just signed Garnet Elerby to move up in a pinch. They also have Chris Bourque and Lane McDermid signed both of whom are at the point in their careers they could easily serve as a 13th forward.

if this team stays reasonably healthy it will rack up around 100 points in the regular season again... but it does have a couple soft spots in the lineup that the team would probably want to upgrade if possible before a run in the playoffs. Of course, the team is turning Ryan Spooner and Jared Knight pro this year and either of them might be ready to help in a 3rd/4th line roll by the time playoffs come around too.

the one potential trade I see available to the bruins right now that would make sense to me... is grabbing Jay Bouwmeister out of Calgary for Johnny Boychuck and change. This will depend on what other teams offer for Bouwmeister. I believe Calgary is a motivated seller but I am not a motivated buyer. I wouldn't overpay. Boychcuk becomes expendable if Bouwmeister comes in. Bouwmeister is a LH shot but often has played the right side I guess so Boston ends up with alot more flexibility what they want to do with their top 4.

Of course, the drawback to Bouwmeister is a very huge cap hit for both this year and next.

Anyhow... this roster isnt going to seem sexy to fellow B fans because its exactly the same one that they have in place already today which means no changes. But this is a team that won a cup 2 years ago and the GM traded for/signed these guy long term cause he thinks they are the type of guys you can win a cup with. He has already been proven correct once and now he is adding Seguin/Hamilton/Rask to the mix and there aint many teams around that are adding a better forward/dman/goalie this age to their team's future hopes... so the core of the team is all young in their primes {except Chara who still has gas in the tank anyhow} and there is 3 lines of scoring depth and this team is willing to play defense while still shows it has enough scoring punch when healthy to lead the entire NHL is plus/minus {although the PP is pretty horrible and needs improvement}

its a good time to be a Bruin fan even if this free agency period was really uneventful for us all.

I sure hope the Sabres can address the #1 top centre. CoHo is awesome and will have a fantastic career, but he's not ready to handle the #1 job.

We don't have a spot for Raymond on the roster anymore so I would much rather have a second or even a third

How so? Rick Nash has topped 70 Points once in his NHL career, he doesn't hit, he doesn't fight, and of course you have to factor in salary...his cap hit is almost $8 million. From a purely offensive standpoint, yes, Rick Nash is the superior player by a decent margin. But this isn't fantasy hockey. Lucic has a far more significant impact on a game than Nash does on a nightly basis.

I'd be willing to bet that if you asked GM's around the league which guy they would choose to plug into their lineup, more than half would choose Lucic simply because of how rare his skillset is. And don't get me wrong, I actually like Nash, and have my druthers with Lucic at times. But I don't think Chiarelli would trade him straight up for Nash if offered. He's just too rare a commodity.

As unlikely as I feel it is, I can hold out hope that they sign Shane Doan (I threw out an arbitrary number of $5 mil per, a slight raise on his last deal). With him, I think it's a very respectable top 6, assuming Kane can handle center. He and Hossa worked pretty well together in the early part of last season, so maybe they rekindle that. I think Jimmy Hayes is a borderline roster player in training camp, especially with the return of Carcillo from injury, and then Bollig is there as a scratch for tough guy insurance. I removed Frolik, thinking he may be traded for peanuts (late round pick, minor leaguer who's not much of a prospect). I really wish he would get a better chance here, he certainly has skills, and he was huge in the last two playoffs, but he just doesn't seem to be Q's type of player, so I think it would make sense for a team with cap space in need of forward depth to take a chance on him.

Defense is pretty much just what they have, Montador has stuck around for now, Brookbank is there as a 7th man, and Olsen is back in the minors. Montador could still be moved out, as well as Hjalmarsson for that matter, but they're D depth is already suspect, so I doubt they'll be moved.

In goal I think they give Crawford another chance. He had an inconsistent sophomore season after a solid rookie year, so I expect they'll see if it was a sophomore slump or stalled development.

If Doan leaves Phoenix - I think the Hawks have a good shot at getting him. I saw Toews interviewed and he was asked whether he had been lobbying his friend (Doan) to come play in Chicago and I like the gleam in Toews' eye when he answered there's been a lot of texts exchanged. So - thinking positively I've got Doan in the lineup. Also, I think Saad makes the team this year.

Saad-Bolland-Shaw
Bickell-Kruger-Carcillo

In a perfect world, we'd sign/trade for a fast, top-6 winger and bump Pavelski down to the 3rd line center spot, thereby moving Handzus to the bench.

New Jersey Devils

most Devils fans expect another signing or a trade of some sort to add to the forward corps because right now it isn't really that imposing after losing Parise (and to a lesser extent, Ponikarovsky). as for the lineup, right now it probably looks something like:

Kovalchuk-Zajac-Zubrus
Elias-Henrique-Tedenby?
???-Josefson-Clarkson
Carter-Gionta-Bernier

Greene-Fayne
Larsson-Tallinder
Volchenkov-Salvador
Zidlicky-Harrold

Brodeur
Hedberg

obviously one of those DMen is likely going to be traded

Just because he's listed first doesn't mean he's the "#1 center".

The top three lines will likely get rolled evenly...it's simply who has chemistry with whom. Vanek-Hodgson-Tropp, Foligno-Ennis-Stafford, and Leino-Roy-Pominville worked great to end the season. Which one was the #1, #2, and #3 line is a pointless discussion...arguably our #1 LW, #1 C, and #1 RW were on three different lines. Make no mistake, Tropp isn't a #1 RW either...

No Penguins roster yet...I would post one but two things:

1) We are still working extensively with FA and I am sure Shero has got some more moves left. Hopefully, we sign Semin.
2) I am dead tired from swimming.
