X2. I guess every team would have taken him at this price tag. To bad he loves Anaheim. If he was on the market, he would be worth 7m+ on a 1 year deal - why? Just compare him to Iginla, and consider the cap rising etc..4.5 is the real deal, even if he is not James Neal

Teemu is amazing. Great to have him back even though the Ducks can suck it.

Unfair! They are paying some kid named Parise three million $ more who made last season 69p when Flash made 66p. And for addition to that Teemu was second liner and this kid the KEY for them.

I DON'T GET IT?!

Finnish Flash is back! Watch out goal number 700!

Great signing for the Ducks, I might have to go to a ducks game just so I can see Teemu in action before he retires (which is hopefully not too soon).

All he does is help the Ducks. Aside from still being a great player, a great teammate and a great spokesman for the team, he puts butts in the seats (and that's not an easy thing to do in Anaheim).

That deal is great value wise. I actualy thought it would be 5 mill, considering the cap went up and the Ducks need to reach the floor. Fans wouldn't care to overpay him, we worship the floor his shadow sweats on

lol I guarantee you Teemu himself makes this team fortune

If you didnt notice a huge portion of Finns are fans of the Ducks. And without Selanne, the head Finn, they would sell a lot less tickets, merch etc.

Even normal Californians would probably much rather go watch the Ducks and get to see a living playing legend. I know I am going to try to catch a Ducks game in NY just to see him. Not to mention they can milk his last game this year into a big deal

And the Ducks arent exactly tight on cap space.

they arent that far removed from a being Cup contenders...

The Visnovsky trade was stupid, but the RPG line (or non-line) had a very down year last year, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them make the playoffs this year if they can have a rebound year

In case you forgot the Ducks were what like 4th or 5th in 2010

funny video by the Ducks announcing the signing.
Teemu must be cast in the next Tommy Wiseau film.

When Teemu Selanne retires, I'll shed some tears. I guarantee it. I'm sentimental like that and I have so many memories of him all the way back to 1992. I'm 34 years old...and I've followed him since I was reading Canada Cup box scores in the newspaper and was listening to Hawks games with Pat Foley on WBBM. He's been my favorite player my entire hockey loving life. Wish I could buy the man a drink and thank him for such an amazing amount of entertainment. Class act. Every time I watch you play is a privilege.

Last year was the only one of those 5 where he wasn't on a 30+ goal pace and that's mostly because our PP sucked last season. Not to mention he has 146 pts in his last 155 games. Show me a player not on an ELC, who produces that well for less money than Selanne.

Best goalscorer yes, best overall no. Jagr is a top 20 all time considering all nationalities, while Selšnne is "only" top 50 all time.

How many more years will he do this for. Luckily for Ducks fans he's committed to only playing them there. Nice contract on top of that.
