Winnipeg Jets/IceCaps sign forward Ben Maxwell and goalie Mark Dekanich. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed but I would say either 2 two ways, or a 2 way and a 1 way.

The Dekanich signing is an interesting one. I guess he and Montoya will compete for the backup job in Winnipeg with the loser ending up in St John's?
The Grand Rapids Griffins on Monday signed defenseman Nathan Paetsch (PAY-tch) and left wing Triston Grant to one-year contracts.
Quote:
Paetsch spent the 2011-12 season overseas, suiting up in 52 games for Wolfsburg Grizzly Adams of Germany’s DEL and finishing second among the club’s defensemen with 25 points (7-18—25).
Quote:
Grant, 28, skated in 53 contests for the Oklahoma City Barons in 2011-12, registering 15 points (11-4—15) and tying for 17th in the AHL with 163 penalty minutes.

I can confirm that the #WorSharks have signed Ferris State goaltender Taylor Nelson to a contract. He will likely play in ECHL this season.
This info seems legit because Taylor Nelson (Worcester) is listed as acquired as a free agent (like Gourde and Tarasov) in the Sharks' development camp roster http://sharks.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=637357

That's me.
I've gotten no official comment from either Worcester or San Jose about the signing, but I was able to confirm it through a different source. It is an AHL contract (an NHL contract would have been confirmed through the "big boys" soon after it happened), and as I have a good idea why it hasn't been announced I suspect we won't hear about it until the falls rolls around.

The Oklahoma City Barons signed defenseman Teigan Zahn to a contract, General Manager Bill Scott announced today.
Zahn, a 6-3, 210-pounder from Bethune, Sask. played last season with the University of Calgary. With the Dinos, he played in 27 games, scoring 15 points (3-12-15) and serving 75 penalty minutes. For his efforts, he was named the Canada West Men’s Hockey Rookie of the Year. He was also named to the Canada West First Team All Star Team and was the only first-year player named to the First Team All Star Team.
Quote:
Zahn had the distinction of being drafted twice. He was selected in the 5th round (132nd overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft by the Blackhawks. He re-entered the draft in 2010 and was selected in the 7th round (186th overall) by the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Probably since Washington/Hershey have a bunch of forwards under contract. I guess the following players will play for Hershey : (NHL contracts) : Ryan Potulny, Ryan Stoa, Mattias Sjogren, Mike Carman, Zach Hamill, Stanislav Galiev, Matt Clackson, Garrett Mitchell (AHL contracts) : Jeff Taffe, Matt Pope, Boyd Kane, Alex Berry, Mathieu Beaudoin and Jon DiSalvatore.
This leaves Danick Paquette, David Civitarese, TJ Snyer, Barry Almeida, David Vallorani and Scott Wietecha battling for the remaing spots or for top minutes in Reading.
This thread is for players who have signed AHL contracts. Yes, Hershey has signed a number of players who will spend good parts, if not all, of the season in the ECHL; nothing unusual for Hershey and by extension the Washington/Hershey affiliation to assign players to the ECHL team who are under NHL or AHL contract.
