How do the IBL playoffs work? I've only recently started to take an interest in the Fat Cats.

9 teams, 8 make the playoffs, 1/8, 2/7, 3/6, 4/5?

I haven't really kept up to date on baseball, but is there still a chance we could get a A or AA team in the future?

Likely AA in 2014 or 2015.

It won't be the blue jays though, since they renewed their contract in AA New Hampshire.

The new NH contract only goes thru the 2014 season. We could still see Jays AA ball, we would just have to wait a little longer.

For the Intercounty League I think they blow most other teams out of the water. They don't release attendance stats for most teams but I think typically they are in the hundreds, not in the thousands like the Fat Cats. They are getting A or AA-level attendences for a semi-pro league, which is pretty impressive.

I think capacity is 10,000. It's a AAA stadium in a AA market.

Wish we had something decent other than Intercounty there.

I mean c'mon, this city is just terrible for sports right now. We need a refurbished CFL stadium, baseball stadium (for ideally triple AAA), and Civic Center asap.

Its not so much the sports teams but our arenas and stadiums are in awful shape.

I went to see the Fat Cats for the first time a few weeks ago and went back last night. It's a fun outing! Both times there were about 3,000 - 3,500 people. Which is pretty good IMO! There's lots of atmosphere too!

As for professional baseball like AA or even AAA; I don't think it could work. The main reason why the Fat Cats have success is the ticket price. Bring in some higher caliber baseball and the ticket prices go up. There are a lot of families at the Fat Cats, but boost the price and half of those families are gone.

There are clearly baseball fans in Ottawa, but maybe just not enough to sustain a real pro baseball team.

I'm quite ok with the Fat Cats. As a matter of fact, it only took one game for me to experience a fun evening at the stadium.

I am now a fan!

p.s. the playoffs start next week. Go fatties!!!

You'll still never pay more than $15 a ticket to go in the upper bowl.

Yes, if you look at some AA clubs like the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (the Jays' affiliate) the ticket prices are comparable to the Fat Cats.

We were there today and it's impressive how much better the field looks compared to a couple of weeks ago. After the music festival it was in pretty rough shape but they've done good work to get it looking better. Still not as good as it was before but it will be decent for the playoffs.

A double a team could very well work and do very well.

Fat Cats have to go down to Toronto area for games tuesday and wednesday to play games that were postponed earlier in season. Ottawa could finish 5th/6th or 7th depending on these 2 games. They will start the playoffs on the road this coming weekend.

It's confirmed that they are playing Guelph in the first round of the playoffs.

Game 1: Saturday, July 28th at Guelph – 7:30pm
Game 2: Monday, July 30th at Guelph – 7:30pm
Game 3: Friday, August 3rd at Ottawa – 7:35pm
Game 4: Saturday, August 4th at Ottawa – 7:05pm
Game 5: Sunday, August 5th at Ottawa – 1:05pm
Game 6: Tuesday, August 7th at Guelph – 7:30pm
Game 7: Wednesday, August 8th at Guelph – 7:30pm

The Good: The Fat Cats are 3-1versus Guelph this season.

The Bad: The Fat Cats have dropped 7 of their last 11 games while Guelph has won 8 of their last 11.

I can't get excited about the FatCats. I attended many of the triple A games but lost interest when our affiliation switched from Montreal to Baltimore. I'd definitely return for a double A club affiliated with the Blue Jays.

Ottawa lost game 1 of their series yesterday 3-1 in Guelph.

I would think that we'll take game 2.. figured that Guelph would take the win last night due to their starting pitcher (complete stud).

This is the mindset that the AA group is hoping for from former Lynx fans that lost interest.

In the mean time, I recommend a Fat Cats game.. it's a fun experience and I think a lot of people underestimate it.

Guelph is up 2-0.. game 2 was a bit of a gongshow, they won 18-4.

Game 3 is tonight in Ottawa. Safe to say that we need a win.
