Sabres roster, as it stands (no further signings or trades):
Ott-Hodgson-Vanek
Foligno-Ennis-Stafford
Leino-(whichever prospect makes the team out of camp*)-Pominville
Gerbe-McCormick-Kaleta
xEllis, Scott

*Adam, Grigorenko, or perhaps even Girgensons

Leopold-Myers
Sulzer-Ehrhoff
Regehr-Sekera
xWeber, McNabb

Miller
Enroth

Before anyone berates me for having Pommer on the "3rd" line or Ott on the "1st," Ruff roles all of his top 3 evenly at even strength most of the time. He likes having a banger, a playmaker, and a shooter on each line. This set-up facilitates that on at least 2/3 of them...Though the Pominville line might be in a little trouble at C, and the softest of the 3.

The 2012-2013 Montreal Canadiens

Gionta - Plekanec - Bourque
Pacioretty - Desharnais - Cole
Moen - Eller - Gomez
Prust - White - Armstrong
Nokelainen

Gorges - Subban
Markov - Emelin
Diaz - Bouillon
Kaberle - Weber (hopefully these two will specialise as a 2nd PP unit only)

Price
Budaj

Leblanc, Palushaj, Blunden, Geoffrion, and St-Denis will be used as injury call-ups when the inevitable happens. I hope to god no extra goaltenders will be needed.

I can only see either Doan or Kostitsyn being signed here, in which case they would be slotted into Bourque's spot on the top line wing, and Bourque would be demoted to Gomez's spot on the 3rd line, with Gomez himself being transferred down to Hamilton (as unlikely as that is).

I'm assuming it will cost more to add Semin, but I'm not sure how high the Pens would go on a 1 or 2 year deal.

Also, Kennedy could be traded for a mid round pick, depending on how Tangradi/other prospects do in camp and to start the season.

Lovejoy is gone to any team willing to trade a 5 or 6 rounder.

Bolded are unsigned RFAs. Did a fair estimate, slightly over.

Some debate as to what the 4th line will look like, each Stars' fan will probably give you a different one though, which is why I left all 5 on there. Those 4 (Fiddler will definitely be the center) can be rotated through the two wing spots for the most part.

And no idea on the D pairings, either.

The roster will look a lot different with Roy out too, so this is a healthy roster. Eakin will probably move up to 2nd, Fiddler to 3rd, and Wandell on the 4th at center until Roy's back.

You wouldn't trade Lucic for Nash? That's fine because you'll need 2 Lucics to aquire Nash... Nash is vastly superior.

Lucic has a far more significant impact on a game than Nash does on a nightly basis.

I'd be willing to bet that if you asked GM's around the league which guy they would choose to plug into their lineup, more than half would choose Lucic simply because of how rare his skillset is. And don't get me wrong, I actually like Nash, and have my druthers with Lucic at times. But I don't think Chiarelli would trade him straight up for Nash if offered. He's just too rare a commodity.
Nash absolutely hits... He's a pretty physical player given his status, of course he's nothing like Lucic... Offensively Nash is worlds better, he's also better defensively. Nash plays with zero help on a defensive team, he would be bostons best player easily.

Nash is not vastly superior. Yes, he is better, and I would do Lucic for Nash straight up being honest, but don't be silly.

Anyway, Bruins 2012-12

Lucic-Krejci-Horton
Marchand-Bergeron-Horton
Caron-Kelly-Peverley
Thornton-Campbell-Paille
Knight

Chara-Boychuk
Seidenberg-Hamilton
McQuaid-Ference
Krug

Rask
Khudobin

Put Hamilton with Seids because he needs a big body to defend him and cover up his rookie mistakes. Will benefit him greatly.

Shoot, forgot him.

It's tough, Knight or Caron for the 3rd line? Caron has proven he can play at an NHL pace and be effective, but Knight has the potential to be great. Ehh. I'd start Caron. He'd be more effective on the 3rd line, and already has some chemistry with Kelly and Pevs. Plus, he proved he's a good player in the playoffs and end of the season. The kid was insane when everyone else sucked. I'll edit it now.

I think it could be a playoff team but it depends 100% on if Cammy and Cervenka can be top 6 nhl centers, Cammy looked good last season in the 15ish games he played there but who knows.
