So pretty much just Subban and Geoffrion left to sign, then?

Good signing. Probably means that a defenseman is gone (Weber?) even if MB says you can never have too many.

$1,2M year 1

$1,25 year 2

Gives him a little job security while he fights for a longterm spot.

Overpayment. Too much term. Sucked last season. Can't improve. Horrible move, Bergy.

Sweet, avoided arbitration. Is Weber a goner?

Who's our triggerman on the 2nd PP?

Nice.

I like Diaz, I think he has a future with the team as a 4th-6th defenceman. He took a month or two to adjust the the NHL rink, and then he really played solidly for us for a few months before he seemingly ran out of gas. I think he'll prove to us that he deserves a permanent spot in the lineup.

I think Weber is on the outside, looking in.

However people need to stop being negative with him. He's played the minutes given to him, and he has always been used as a plug whenever needed on the 4th line and has shown he has somewhat offensive talent for the NHL. Hasn't established himself, but he has still shown skill.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him get traded and do well in the right environment. But it's clear that between Diaz and Weber, Diaz is the better player overall.

He played injured for a while and eventually had to shut it down. And it's a 50 game season in the Swiss league. Both probably played a big role.

Le jeune Veber is probably gonzo.

Great cap hit signing by Bergevin. Very nice financial deal, I'm just concerned by the fact that the blue line is very soft and Diaz isn't helping that...

As a bottom guy though, that's a pretty good signing.

With Weber, he's been a disappointment last year but I think people forget that age can be just as important as NHL experience. Diaz himself was a late bloomer, there's a reason he went undrafted.

Weber still has a decent amount of potential and shows an underrated amount of grit, but his decision making just isn't there and right now doesn't bring what Diaz and Emelin do. Unfortunately if the AHL isn't an option then it's probably a good idea to trade Weber while he has some value, because we already have enough small defensemen to develop, and the Thrower pick potentially makes Weber redundant.

Pretty much how I feel. Weber gets a lot of heat but he really hasn't been put in a position to succeed, in my opinion. He was given some PP time then yanked a few games later when it didn't work.

I'll admit though, Weber wouldn't be in the position he is now had he put more time into practicing his accuracy. He has quite the bullet, but he can never get it on target.

Wouldve been nice to if he wouldve practiced to STOP ASKING PASS like a mad man (like in NHL12). You don't have any idea how much that pisses me off.

I'm glad Diaz is back...I love what he brings to the team. Steady D, good vision, good defensively (very good poke checker), good shot...glad for him.

Gotta say good luck to le jeune Vébaire but his time in Montreal is over. We cant have that many offensive Ds/bad defensively on our club.
