This is the only FA left that I want the Leafs to grab. Put him on the 3rd line LW next to McClement would be great for our PK which is terrible. I know we have a surplus of wingers but only our top 6 wingers are good, our bottom 6 needs to get bigger and more defensive.

Lupul-Bozak-Kessel
JVR-Grabo-Kulemin
Winnik-McClement-Frattin
Komarov-Steckel-Brown

Connolly, Lombardi and Mac need to be traded.

Id rather D'Amigo on the third line. No crazy salary. Winnik would easily become the next whipping boy if we overpay.

Why hasn't Danniel Winnick Signed Yet?

seams like a guy many teams would have interest in being an ideal 3rd liner, so whats the hold-up? any speculation on which teams interest him the most?

He wants too much money. He's asking for around 3 mil. 2.5 is a little outlandish for him.

Wants too much. Likely the case that he or his agent has priced himself out of the market.

Rosters are filling up, and its looking like 3 options

1. Get signed to non contending team for fair value
2. Get signed to contending team below his fair value
3. Welcome to the KHL where money buys you

This is just Winnik being Winnik. He's always trying to get more than is realistic for him.

Sounds like these guys are tremendous at what they do.

If the price is reasonable I'd really want the leafs to get him. Our bottom six needs some help.

the first part is the questionable part for every team, he's a great bottom 6 player (though an offensive black hole)

If memory serves me correctly I thought I read an article when he was traded to sj that said Colorado traded him cause he was asking for 3-3.5 a year.

oh the 2nd coming of Dominic Moore, remember when that dummy turned down the Leafs multi yr offer ?

Moore and Winnik need to both resign in SJ and be happy they have jobs.

He's had 4 different agents over the past 8 years...

no mac is a good player he doesn't need to go although it wouldn't shock me if he were moved at some point this season.

With the kind of money Gaustad and Prust are making, I don't see how 2.5 is such a huge reach. Sounds about on par with what many other bottom 6/PK guys are getting these days.

Hard to believe I've seen the words Daniel Winnick and the number $2.5 million in the same sentence. Seems like a crazy amount for what he brings.

Considering you guys just gave Armstrong the boot, a superior player in my opinion... I don't see why anyone (specifically TML) would want Winnik anywhere beyond fair price (~1.5-2 tops)

Took Coyotes to arbitration twice - got traded
Demanded to much money when the Avs tried to extend him - got traded
Demanding too much money from SJ - didn't get an offer.

See a trend here?

I'm surprised he hasn't signed anywhere yet. Even given his apparent salary demands, surely by now he would have realised that no-one will pay him 2.5?

He's also one of 31 players representing the NHLPA in the CBA talks. I wonder if that's one of the reasons for the hold up.
