We added McClement who is a 4th line 5 on 5 player and penalty killing specialist.

We also added Ashton via trade last season.

Colborne and Kadri are also that much closer to being ready for a spot in the NHL that will push other guys down the depth chart.

No need to go out and acquire a 4th liner.

First line PPG player vs. prospect goalie

And the difference is a 1st rounder vs. a 2nd and a 3rd?

4th liners is the last thing we need.

Lupul-Bozak-Kessel and JVR-Grabo-Kulemin are likely the top 6 possibly Kadr/Frattin aswell.

Then McClement, Connolly, Lombardi, Steckel, Brown, Komarov and possible spots for someone like D'amigo.

Agreed, the likes of Rosehill or Orr can fill in as well when required after Zigmoanis. No need to waste a roster spot or $ on another 4th liner.

He's not a good enough fighter, nor does he fight enough. Pass sorry.

That is true, but that has nothing to do with what I commented on. There is still no way that a 1st, 2 2nds, and a 3rd is more than what the Leafs paid for Kessel, as a matter of fact I think it would have to be considered lucky if that deal returned a prospect close to Seguin or Hamilton.

I don't expect the Leafs to be a bottom 5 team, I doubt they will even be a bottom 10 team, that makes a big difference along with Boston getting 2 1st round picks. It just isn't a deal where anyone is paying more than the Leafs paid for Kessel and that is all I was commenting on. That is what you said, you said it was more than what the Leafs paid for Kessel.

Just curious to see what the prices are and who is available. But a young guy like Clifford or Matt Martin etc could be good pieces to bring in if they were available. Guys who will fight and can play and have upside.

Winnik if he wasn't asking for alot, but why do we need more 4th liners? More like good, 3rd liners. Our best 3 to play on it would be Bozak, Kulemin, Frattin but we will get Connolly, Lombardi+1.

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
Van Reimsdyk - Grabovski - MacArthur
Kulemin - McClement - Frattin
Lombardi - Steckel - Brown
ex. Connolly, Kadri, Komarov

Plus prospects like Colborne, Ashton and D'Amigo

The last thing the Leafs need is a 4th liner, if there is a new addition it will be a #1 center.

2nd and 3rd rounders have been tradd to move up to the first round before, so yes that trade was equal, maybe more.

...and did Burke expect to be a bottom 5 team when he traded the picks?

Bottom 5-10 teams shouldn't be trading high picks.

Leafs ARE a bottom 5 team right now.

I'm pretty sure we're going to see a Brown-Steckel-Komarov 4th line, with Orr, Rosehill (if resigned), or maybe even Devane as the 13th forward is Carlyle wants to utilize an enforcer.

And I'm very OK with that...out of everyone that's been listed in this thread, I don't really see them providing any upgrade for the line.

well call me insane if u want.It wouldn't be the frist time or the last im sure. Clifford is more then a 4th line energy guy that fights. Hes young 21 with 2nd 3rd line abilitys. Hes still learning the game. When he gets a bit bigger i can see him playing with richards and carter. He has 45 point upside in time. To me hes one of the best bottom six the kings have more upside then king and nolon. If ur looking at getting clifford ur from the leafs pov try the second and someone like kadri(even then not sure) . Clifford is one of the most popular kings your not getting him for nothing.

Feel free to do a package deal if you want also...

Beleskey
McCormick
Jackman
Mayers
Carcillo
Eager
Clifford
Martin
Rupp
Hendricks
Thorburn

That is just to name a handful of them, obviously there are a few other guys out there. But are any of these guys available or anyone that I don't have on my list above available? And as I said, what would it cost to get them? Feel free to do a package deal if you want as some of these players probably have similar price tags so it might get tedious with what is needed to acquire them.

I'd just sign Winnick as UFA for PK and the leafs have Brown already fights and Orr is ready to call up from the AHL at any moment.
There is no need to trade more than a 4th pick for this kind of talent.

We'll give you Powe for a 3rd rounder or a decent D prospect.

ok ok i ll correct my statement cause it went a little far most leafs fans are. As to the trade of kadri and a 2nd for clifford, Its not that ridiculous when u consider hes a top 6 forward thats having a hard time breaking into torontos top 6 I think he would have a harder time trying to get into the top 6 of las this year. Where as clifford would challenge for the 3 lw spot on toronto especially if Nikolai Kulemin doesnt bounce back from a bad year. The trade maybe a little in the kings favour but no where near as ridiculous as thinking u would get him and bernier for 2 seconds

Our Fourt line nextr season should look like this:

Komarov - Steckle - Orr

I HOPE Carlyle opts to bring Orr back up.

Clifford is not worth 2nd in a deep draft+leafs 1/2 top prospect.
