You'd have to completely renegotiate the CBA as well.

It has just been reported that 118 horses are running down 7th Avenue with a chubby Jim Dolan leading the charge on a painted red, white and blue stallion...

Probably the most shameful moment in our country's history...

Save the day the Ranger signed Redden...

... that is too much $$$ for Doan. I like Doan, I get $5-$6 mil in desperation, but $7.5? on a 35+ contract for 4 years? Yeesh.

Yeah totally. Whoever offered that should be fired immediately.

Next thread should be called "Doan go breaking my heart."

I even get the term or the cap hit seperately (as in 7.5m for one year or 4.5m for 4 years), but put together it is just so so so bad. How much do GMs really hate Semin that they would resort to this?

So is that all Eklund from the beginning? The offer itself, then the "it's not the Flyers"?

Sure sounds like him.

The only way that I think this gets offered if its a performance bonus.

Someone posted a good one before. 5m +1.25(60p)+1.25(160h)

I could see 4m base and 1m if the team makes the playoffs maybe.

Point is, 7.5m base salary is nuts, but ill take an aging doan at 4m base to play on my 3rd line. Especially a team like toronto who is going to be having a lot of youth who could really use some gritty leadership.

The current CBA does not allow these bonuses for a 35+ year old unless it is a one year deal.

Really hoping this happens just so we can see a situation where Doan is 20 or 30 hits short going into the last game of the season and just goes to town on some poor team.

I think this was Philly. They lost out on Parise, Suter and back up plan Jagr and Carle
Homer doesn't look good hear and he has shown he is not afraid to throw big bucks after elite players.

Doan offered 7.5 mil a year for 4 years

Eklund of hockey buzz reported that a team in the Eastern Conference has offered Shane Doan a 4 year contract worth 30 million with a 7.5 mil cap hit.

Thank God it's not us.

If it's true, 500 vcash says it's Pittsburg.

They'll have to let Malkin go to cover Doan's new salary.

Haha. Eklund stealing from John Gambadoro? It's the end of days. The biggest idiot in Arizona sports in correctly blurted out some nonsense he misheard and the biggest liar, snake oil selling, phony in hockey rips him off. Hahahahahaha

It might've been the Jets.

We don't spend a lot, but we're still under the cap floor. If we were ever going to pay 7.5 million for a 36 year old UFA, it would make sense if it was a player from our former franchise.

I mean, what other Eastern team would want Doan THAT badly?
