NHL source just confirmed to me that an Eastern Conference team has offered Coyotes Captain Shane Doan a 4-year deal worth more than 30 mill

Like I said in the previous thread, I wouldn't be totally shocked if it was the Jets. What other team in the East would want Doan that badly?
We're still under the cap floor (although we'll be over once Kane re-signs), but Mark Chipman was a diehard Jets 1.0 fan and he and Assistant GM Craig Heisinger knew a lot of the former players personally. We're talking about a management team that offered Selanne a contract last summer, even though he had made it clear he wasn't going to leave Anaheim. I could see them making an offer to Doan, but whether it was for 7.5 million per remains to be seen.
Just so everyone knows Gambo is a moron who has no idea what he's talking about.
I'm going to take your word on this. The amount and term are nuts, and it makes a little more sense if this guy has no idea what he is talking about. I'm going to make that assumption.
All I can say is I spit food out. Wow, that's how desparate a team has gotten to acquire a top 6 forward. Personally I would think that team has to have contacted Semin as well. Winnipeg would be an interesting team to say the least.
I still wouldn't be surprised if it was Carolina. They apparently threw a lot of money at Parise, they were willing to take on Nash's contract. This wouldn't be too far off.
They're desperate for a Top-6 winger, and Staal-Staal-Doan would be a much better line than anything they've put together in recent history.
