As long as Subban, Price, Pacioretty and Galchenyuk don't move, I'm good.

Eklund Rumor...Again!

Sorry, Mods, couldn't find the Eklund thread...feel free to repost or open a new Eklund thread. Did anyone else read the rumor of the Habs looking at Marleau + for a D man+? Even if that rumor could be true in any fashion, I suppose the only D man the Habs would be interested in from the Sharks would be Vlasic, no doubt. I guess Eklund needed more hits this week. Surprise, surprise!

Wouldn't that mean we are looking at Marleau for one of our D-men?

Marleau to Montreal rumours have been here for 10 years.

Supposedly, the Habs are interested in Marleau + a D man for one of our D men +. But as someone has stated already, Marleau rumors to Mtl have been around forever it seems. And if this rumor would have any truth to it (which I am sure it doesn't) their D man would more than likely be Vlasic, the home town boy. Of course, Eklund doesn't go out on the ledge with this one and suggest what return Mtl might be offering. I would think that Bergevin is kicking tires around the league so who knows what moves he might make before the season opener.

Eklund just tweeted the following on the Habs:

Hockey Buzz Eklund ‏@Eklund
Ok..The team I believe is Montreal. I know for fact they made an overture and Doan respectfully declined…but Habs looking at another star..

He thinks the Habs offered Doan a 4 year / 30 million $ contract.

So we can difinitively say it was NOT Montreal in that case.

Thank God, he's not worth anything close to that amount and for that term. Team that gets him at the price and term are retarded.

If that rumour was true (it's obviously not) I wouldn't know who is more stupid.. Bergevin for offering that kind of money or Doan for refusing it.

I never trust Eklund for rumours or trades!

For me it's Bob Mckenzie, Darren Dreger and Pierre Lebrun.

I know its Eklund but I wouldn't be suprised that it is Montreal. Its the same Cap hit as Gomez. Adding a leader in the locker room like Doan would be amazing. Imagine we then trade to get Sharp.

Ok back to reality. Yup were not getting anyone else. Time to have a beer and enjoy the heat wave.

Personally, I would love Marleau in Montreal. Whether the rumors or true or false, name your price.
For Marleau, what would you give. He's a solid 30+ goal scorer with size speed plus he's a LW/C. Would be great.
What does SJ need? Center? I say yes.
Goal tending?Well every team need goal tending depth so not going there.
Defense? They have depth here for a guy like Murray to move on. I would love Murray Wingers?Well Havlat is a RW and I believe our biggest hole is on the LW so that means Marleau would fit like a glove. T get you must give, but what is the the right deal?
For me if Marleau is available, I go for it.

Eller-Love him but.....give.
Bourque
Tinordi or Beaulieu-That hurts!
Plus any prospet not named Galchenyuk, Leblanc, Gallagher.
for Marleau and Murray

You can say put Weber in Tirnordi or Beaulieu's spot but that's a different deal and one SJ would likely move away from.

I like Marleau but you don't trade those pieces unless you're close to winning the Cup. Right now I'm not even sure we are a playoff team...

That's a given. Those guys usually confirm trades that have already been broken.

That's the usual crazy teams the Flyers or the Rangers.

I'm not even sure I'd trust him for that. He'll just advertise the place that'll give him the biggest supplies for free. Marinaro's a sucker for these things.

Any team that gives Doan $7.5 million a year is stupid. And Doan is even dumber rejecting it.
