With Joffrey Lupul set to become a UFA next July what do you think his value is and when should Brian Burke re-sign him? If it's something he gets done early maybe Burke can get a smaller cap hit because if he puts up the same numbers he had this past season, I'm sure Lupul will want more the longer he waits to re-sign.
It all depends on what he does this year obviously. It doesn't matter when he signs, your logic won't hold up. If he has a great start, then him and his agent will say I am going to put up huge numbers, show me the money.
I see 6-6.5m regardless of how well he does next season. The length of the contract will depend on how well he does next year though. If he plays poorly, 1-2 years, if he plays well, 5 years.

Basically this. If he has a poor start, then BB might get a slight discount (as Lupul weighs the risk of guaranteed money vs continuing to have a poor season vs season improving). So there's some risk for Lupul if the season starts off slow. However if he has a strong season, then he's in the money.
However I don't see him getting 6m+. Something more like Kessel's deal. 5-5.5 over 3-5 years. If he doesn't sign, then it'll be interesting to see what happens at the TD. If he's doing well, Leafs could move him for a couple quality pieces. However the Leafs do have a roster that's able to make the playoffs (assuming everyone's healthy), so I don't see Lupul getting moved unless his contract demands are retarded (such as 6m+).
he will never resign in toronto, 1st he will never get along with carlyle, 2nd he will want to go back to california, ana will pay him his 6.5 mil for 5years or more, after they trade ryan away this year.
burke will lose him for nothing, he will not get trading at the deadline.

Pretty sure most players show loyalty to clubs that save their careers, but thanks for coming out

Is this the same Anaheim that traded him away twice?

I couldn't disagree more with this statement. Lupul was given a chance to revive his career here and he has regained his status in the NHL because of it and is now an all star player.
This is a very good stable situation for him as a player, he'll resign no doubt about it. He may actually sign a bit of a discount too like Liles. Lupul hasn't had much stability in his career nobody should be surprised if that's what he elects to do next contract.
I know it's hard to believe, but some players actually like playing in Toronto's crazy market.

Very true. Kessel and Lupul just know each others tendencies very well and I wouldn't be surprised if Lupul put up big numbers again this year.
They honestly dont even need a #1 to center them. If they can get a guy that is strictly good defensively between these two, even that guy will get like 40-50 points.
I don't see Lupul leaving...especially after being traded from one place to another, then the injuries etc. If he performs well, I don't see why Burke wouldn't give him a 4-5 year deal.
