I suspect that the Ducks will not buy out Sexton. The cost of the buy out plus the cost of signing another player will just about equal Sexton's salary. Plus, while I do not think that he is an NHL quality player, he has played in the NHL and can be called up in an emergency.

I do not understand why the Ducks did not qualify Holzapfel. However, they must have had some sort of reason, so I need to see who they sign as a replacement before totally complaining about this decision.

With so many holes to fill already in Ducks and Admirals roster, that is pretty bad idea.
I can`t see a reason why we shouldn`t resign him - even Crunch fans were saying good things about him, if i remember correctly.

And i also don`t believe we will be buying out Sexton.

Norfolk is going to be a young skilled team this year. It looks like they are trying to stay away from 1st or 2nd line, older AHL guys in order to give the young guys the quality ice time. Probably will see less skilled, older players added to the roster.

One other thing to keep in mind. In the event of a lockout, all players on NHL teams with two way contracts will be pushed to the AHL. If that is the case, then players under AHL only contracts must also get paid and may not be playing or be sent down to the ECHL.

Vet Dmen

I hope the Ducks go out and get some vet AHL dmen to play in Norfolk. From what I've seen the defensive corps is a little thin as compared to the forward lines.

I looked up echl affiliations and Anaheim doesn't seem have one yet. Do you think they will affiliate with San Fransisco Bulls, who are yet to announce their affiliation?? Elmira is affiliated with the Sens now. Here are San Fransisco's jerseys, same color as the Ducks:

I didn't see it mentioned anywhere but Cumiskey signed with MODO. Which leaves Clark, Hendry, Vatanen, Guenin, Smaby and Heed as the D we have signed to two way contracts next year with one of those guys probably taking the #7 spot in Anaheim.

I thought that I read some where that Heed was going to play next year in Sweden. If so that means that the Ducks need to sign at least two and, given the likelihood of injuries during the season both in Anaheim and Norfolk, at least three and preferably four more defensemen for Norfolk and the non-existant ECHL affiliate.

My limited skills caused it to be so small. Just click on it to enlarge.

Doesnt wotk for me :/

Just paste the image link between [IWG] and [/IWG] (replace ''W'' with ''M'' - i changed it so it doesn`t show errors for me since i wont place a pic in there. ). It`ll show it automatically large.

I can see a picture link though, so i just post it here:

Edit - that is not a link, but you should get an idea how to place it

So after all that trouble of using the Ducks' font and colors, they chose the Sharks as their affiliate. Not surprising considering the Sharks used to play there, but just doesn't make sense why they used the Ducks scheme.

So apparently Hampus Lindholm is crossing the pond earlier than we thought. He want's to make the Ducks from camp, but if not he said he would play in the AHL. Norfolk's defense is looking pretty good:

Clark-Vatanen
Guenin-Lindholm
Hendry-Smaby

And while it's highly debatable if it would happen, but there's a definite possibility Cam Fowler starts the season playing with that defense. With Fowler still developing, being only 20, and the Ducks likely wanting to keep very close tabs on his development, on top of the news of the NHL's CBA proposal, I think it'll happen.

You mean if there's a lockout, right? Would Sbisa still be eligible too or would he have to go through waivers?

Oh yes, of course. And not sure how it works with a lockout, but normally Sbisa would have to go on waivers, I believe.

I don't know about other teams, but a lockout edition of the Admirals would be pretty stacked. That'd be something to watch. Edmonton's farm team would be even more-so, but that all depends(like with Fowler) if they actually send their regulars there, or they treat them like veteran NHLers and allow them to sit around or pursue options overseas.

That would definitely be a dynamic defence with Cam, heck it is very good already. Norfolk fans would be in for a real treat.
