I do wonder what this will mean regarding 2014 winter olympics. If he stays healthy next season and produces, there might be a chance of him participating.

I never thought it was so close. But does anybody else feel, that Selšnne might have been even better than Jagr. I mean Jagr had Lemieux for several years.

I don't think so. Even taking Lemieux into account, Jagr is the better player and more talented too. Perhaps without the several pretty serious injuries that Selšnne had it would have rather close. But as it is, Jagr is superior.

Even as a Finn, I agree. Jagr could dominate the game like no other player can in today's game. You could also make the case that Selšnne had Kariya or Jagr didn't play with much support when he didn't have Lemieux centering him.

Jagr is better overall, no doubt.

Jagr is better, no doubt? Did you not just see how close those stats are?

Jagr was a beast 5 on 5... For a few years.

Selanne has been a shark on the powerplay.

Which one is better? How do you even start comparing?

I know the stats..

Overall it's Jagr.

Selšnne might be the better goal scorer.

Jagr is better, there's no question. Jagr played couple years in KHL.

On second look, it's not even close. Jagr is one of the best hockey players of his era, Selanne is somewhere behind him.

Cmon. I'm a lifelong Ducks/Teemu fan but its not even close. Jagr was significantly better.

But you have to think how much better Teemu would have been if he had a real team through the 90s instead of just him and hewhoshallnotbenamed.

As a hockey fan it's great to see Teemu returning for another season.

As far as the Teemu/Jagr talks go it's not even close. I'm a huge Selanne fan but Jagr has had a much better career.

Jagr is better overall of the two, can't argue with that. Teemu is a better goal scorer though (I don't think that's even in doubt when you can make a case for Teemu pushing 800 goals were it not for couple of serious injuries and playing with knee's not nearly at 100%). Also, one could argue that right now Teemu is the better of the two, as it's remarkable that he put 66 points at the age of 41 on a team as thin offensively as Ducks. Had he played on a deeper team, it's likely he would have been point per game this past season.

I would say Selanne is the better goal scorer but Jagr is the better rounded player

I'm sure Teemu would tell you Jagr was the better player. But both are greats, and I'm very glad I get to watch both of them play each other a few times this year.

Teemu, Lidstrom and Jagr are really an inspiration to me.

With most sports seemingly becoming younger and younger (even Kobe Bryant was commenting about "them kids with their skinny jeans and nerd glasses"), having atheletes playing at top leagues that are > 40 years old really emphasizes that you can continue to achieve with hard work, dedication to fitness and a passion for the sport.

Very impressive that he keeps playing and at such a high level even after the slew of gnarly injuries he has had like pucks to the face. I'd be ready to quit after one of those. I'm 31 years old and I still remember being in 7th grade when this guy scored like 70 something goals as a rookie.

Good job, Selanne! Glad you're back! I'm not a Ducks fan but you've got to be crazy not to be a Selanne fan.
