This is not the reason why, however. Jagr was completely ineffective the second half of last season, and Briere, Voracek and possibly even Schenn could quite possibly be more effective in that spot.

EDIT: And also, think about what you're saying. Defenders are gonna leave Voracek or Briere open to "target Giroux more"? The reason why Giroux is so effective is that he can make such good use of his linemates...
If the linemates aren't good finishers, then what?

Was Jagr a particularly good finisher?

I'm not saying Giroux wont regress (I think it's possible if not likely), but the loss of Jagr is simply not a reason why it could happen.

Well if Giroux is going to be scoring 40 this year, they'll just need to be good enough playmakers to get the puck back to Giroux

Like I said, it depends on his wingers. The last 2 seasons were his breakout seasons, first he had Carter and then Jagr. He didn't have good chemistry till Hartnell was put on LW last year so we have to see who he gets on RW this year and what their chemistry is like.

I think best case G has another top 3 season, obviously. Doubt he gets the top points. Therefore it would be better after he potentially goes down in pts. The other option is he stays the same and we sign him for the same as now. I think longterm 70 mill contract is good. Dont see him leaving this city as he will ne idolized here. Also dont want to go cheap on him.

Now if we go on to win the cup and he wins MVP then my thoughts dont mean anything

I laugh at all the other fans around the league saying someone is going to offer-sheet Giroux.
Dudes going to be signed way before he turns to RFA

Aye, because we're not stupid enough to let players of Giroux/Weber's quality get to offer sheet status. Giroux will be locked up on the day he's allowed to be. Lifetime Flyer, i'd be happy to give him 10 years with an NTC if the new CBA allows it.
