You'd think he'd be a little more excited that "his" team pulled off The Great Free Agent Robbery.

He does not deserve to be in his position. At all.

well, Avder... after making your head explode yesterday, here is a small bit of silver lining...

The Wild will probably have a few more national games this season...

They might pull off an NBC game or two.

So we go from the worst announcer in sports history to somebody that is almost just as bad, I don't fully understand?

I would rather listen to Reid diarrhea words together so fast he can't even talk.

Well, I think we got a good example to what we can expect from LaPanta today.

Did LaPanta really say on the roundtable discussion show "here in Minneapolis" while sitting in the Iron Range Grill in the X? Because that's what I heard.

Oh man, I DVR'd the roundtable tonight.

Guess I get to see just how bad LaPanta really is later when I watch it.

I have a quick question if someone could help me out... I am new to the hockey forums so I was unaware of the Anthony LaPanta hatred until I came here. lol

What is the reason why so many hate him? I certainly am not a fan, he is wooden and all but I feel like I'm missing a story? lol What is the real reason why people dislike him?

And he has to artificially inject excitement into his voice because it does not do that naturally. And because he screws a lot of stuff up. And because Gopher Hockey fans who do not watch the Wild were celebrating because his promotion meant that they no longer had to listen to him anymore.

He has the personality of a tumbleweed with a touch of arrogance, no chemistry with the his "boothmates". Hopefully he can loosen up alot, or maybe we'll get a bonus and Greenlay will punch him in the nose during a live airing

I think LaPanta will be a big improvement ... so I'm happy about that.

However, I would really would like to see someone like Joe O'Donnell instead because he seems to bring a lot more fun to the game than the play-back-record like "polished" broadcasters.

I think both are / were equally talented in their jobs, both are bottom 5 in the league.

but LaPanta's voice is so *** annoying to me.

I seriously can't believe to this day that they fired Terhaar for LaPanta. What is the point? I can't wait to see the product on the ice, but couldn't be less enthused to have to listen to our broadcast.

I wish they would have waited until free agency to hire a new play by play. With all the interest in the Wild at this point, I have to think the Wild would have had a hard time hiring LaPanta now with all the raised expectations.

Someone should write something about that. The expectations have been raised everywhere except the TV broadcast.

But that would use negated the huge impact Lapanta had on getting Parise and Suter here...

I'm beyond thrilled we signed Parise and Suter that it doesn't bother me who announces the game. I find about 70-80% of the announcers in the NHL to be awful, I'd rather just listen to music anyway.

I agree, it's terrible. Now the Buffalo announcer on the other hand, that guy can call a goal.
