Teddy made 2.35 last year, while Jake made 2.25. Lucky to get 3-3.5?! There is Zero chance Jake is coming in under 3.5.

What is the latest on Voracek talks?

Always liked him as player and think he will continue to develop into a strong two way 60 pt winger

Did Oshie give up any UFA years? I saw that it was a five year deal. 4 flat wouldn't be terrible for Voracek if it took him right up to UFA status.

Has Voracek already been taken to arbitration in his career?

No. Jake has only signed two contracts; his intial entry level contract with Columbus and then his one year deal as a RFA last July.

There was a comment in an article that Jake wanted longer than a 1 year deal so he did not opt for arbitration. I think both sides want a contract with a few years on it. But I think his value is going up seeing these other contracts. If Homer is a good negotiator he could point to Giroux's contract of 3.75 and say that is the threshold on this contract, be it 1, 2 or 3 years.

Yeah but it's all timing. The cap has gone up and 4.5 is the new 3.75.

I wonder if this sits until they see what happens with the Weber deal or if they are negotiating a deal knowing he wil be sent to NSH as a separate deal to get some if their picks back?

I wonder if Voracek is fearful of being moved to NSH so isn't in a rush to sign a new deal?

Trading Voracek would be a rookie mistake.

I hope they're not using Purcell's contract as framework, because that contract was a mistake by the Lightning. He had fewer shots on goal despite getting 2 more minutes per game than he did the year before, and nearly doubled his shooting percentage. Good luck repeating that.

Voracek is obviously on the back burner and has been as the Flyers are involved in Weber and Doan. I dare someone to give him an offer sheet.

I'd hate to move Voracek just to get some picks back. It'd create a gap we'd have to hope to fill.

@Lancer, Good point about 4.5 being the new 3.75. But they still could've had this put to bed July 1st and maybe saved 0.25-0.5m.

Question: Is there any cap room left for Voracek if the Flyers end up signing Weber?

How does Versteegs deal affect what Jake asks for?

I was thinking the same thing. Steeg got $4.4 for 4 yrs. He is 26 y/o and has four 20 goal seasons I think.

I think this isn't a good comparison but for a framework you could say Voracek gets $4M and gives up a year or two of his free agency.

Even with Weber and Voracek signed to $4.25, the Flyers could easily put together a roster with $4m left to spend.

According to czech news, they are waiting how this whole Weber thing ends up. There are no direct quotes about this in the article, so it all may be just speculation.

Also, Voracek's agent says he believes Jake is worth "up to 4M", so it looks they are not asking for 4M+ contract, which could be a reason for this taking so long.

I see that as a fair value and I like that number as a ceiling no doubt. Like you said, probably just waiting for the aftermath of the Weber saga.
