He did last year, no reason why he wouldn't again - he was used in a shutdown role. I am not sure who is returning to this years team tho, so he may be used up on the lines.

Based on Meltzers tweets it would seem Clapperton has some pretty good hands. I know that this camp doesn't earn contracts or roster spots (according to Lappy) but I wonder if they might invite him back to rookie camp.

Eligible are Laughton, Cousins, Willcox, Leier, Mathers (CAN), Stolarz, Gostisbehere, Suellentrop (USA), Larsson (SWE) and Vasiliev (RUS).

Laughton and Cousins could have a chance for Canada, Stolarz and Gostisbehere will be at the US summer evaluation camp for USA Hockey, they should be in contention, Larsson seems like a long shot, he only played some Superelit games in Sweden so far, Vasiliev could have a chance for Russia, if he is healthy again.

Ah, yes. As it was.....

That would be a good indicator tho of making the 'big' squad. I'll say yes still (hopes)

If he scores, would it be weird if they said the team he scored on got "Clapped"?

I'd like to hear your thoughts on the rest of the game. From my buddies couple of texts he seemed pretty impressed with Larsson and Clapperton. Said he'll email more thoughts tonight

Did Laughton really do a number on Ghost? Also, is it okay for them to fight each other and start slashing?

I'd rather have them give a contract to TVR than Clapperton. Trevor was the best player on the ice today. Very, very impressive. He rushed the puck out of his own zone with great speed and made nice moves to get around guys. He made a couple of great passes, and scored a beauty of a penalty shot goal. Clapperton had 2 goals, and was one of the best players on the ice as well. In general, this game was of a much better quality than the last one. Two fights, Laughton vs. Williams and Williams vs. McGinn. Williams leveled McGinn with an open ice hit in the 2nd, and he and Laughton fight right after. Then, on the opening faceoff of the 3rd period Williams and McGinn fought, with McGinn destroying him. Larsson got knocked out on a hit right in front of me. It was a clean hit, but his head whipped against the glass and when he went down, he was out. You could see in his eyes that he was still dazed when 2 guys were helping him off the ice. He didn't return. Stolarz was unimpressive, and Heeter was very impressive. Made a couple of really nice saves going post to post.

Every time I hear TVR it reminds me of the car brand. Also, it'd be weird having another vR on the team.

For those saying Heeter is better than Stolarz, I'd just say wait a few years, Heeter is 23, Stolarz is 18, give him time.

I personally like all the slashing and fighting, it shows the competitive nature of our prospects. If they went out there and didn't play hard every time on the ice I would be pissed as the GM or scouts. They need to prove to management they will do everything and anything to make an impression, which down the line will help them get a roster opportunity.

No, you can sign 18 and 19 year old undrafted players between Draft and the start of the Season, if they played in North America the year before. We did it with Hostetter in the past.

I will always stand by my opinion of this, but I believe the Flyers didn't think he was ready for a contract or to play in the NHL. It wasn't an issue with not being able to offer him one, it was managements decision.

We didn't "lose" Eriksson that way. We voluntarily didn't sign him, and basically chose Hovinen over him. We could have(and still can) sign him if we want.

I made it out to the scrimmage today and Clapperton was the best player on the ice for Orange, I think. Laughton also looks the part of a 1st round pick. On the Black Team, Shane Harper was the best player, I think. I was also impressed with Tye McGinn and TVR. Lauridsen will get called up during the season, he will be the most intriguing prospect in pre-season. Laughton and Cousins almost got into it in the 1st period and started slashing each other, but nothing came of it. Seemed like they were matched up against each other a lot.

Larsson got a concussion, I think it was Emond who hit him? Chris Williams also lit up Tye McGinn, who had to answer from both Laughton and McGinn.

oh ok. So that is the difference between Hyka and Clapperton then. Hyka was in in Europe before he played junior hockey when the Flyers wanted to sign him.
Had the Hyka mess on my brain when thinking of this.

I will add clapperton and tvr were the best invitees. Clapperton wont dangle around 3 players and make giroux like passes but the MAIN thing about him is his positioning which gets him goals. That and how he plays bigger than his size. On twitter lappy was saying how impressed he was with certain players. He stated laughton, cousins and clapperton in the same sentence

Clapperton would be a slide contract so he wouldn't count as one of the 50.

Because we would sign him and then he would go back to juniors?

What I do like is, so many of our prospects don't need to play now. They can all go somewhere, get stronger, get smarter and become better players.
