Edmonton would have to add in my opinion but I'd love to see Ellis in an Oilers jersey skating along side Hall.

I actually dont think its bad for either team. Nashville needs a scorer and Paajarvi has potential to be a good one, and with Ellis running Edmonton's PP with Nuge, Eberle and company it would help them alot too.

anyone actually know who David Musil is? he should have been a first rounder.

ladies and gentleman, David Musil is the next Matt Greene.

and Martin Gernat you ask? he's a 6'5 offensive defenceman.

I really don't see Ryan Ellis being a good pro. I hope he proves me wrong, but being that size on defense isn't in his favour by any means. And I think the same goes for Ryan Murphy, who I see as being very similar to him.

So in that regard, I would see this trade being very close because I think that Musil would look good in an established system.

You don't have to be condescending about it.

Ellis played well on our third pairing, and showed huge potential. With a blueline already in need, why trade away a known quality just because we could get the "next Matt Greene" or a 6'5" offensive defenseman we can't use yet? I'd rather just keep the guy who already looked good in a Preds uniform, and will hopefully improve next season.

okay and what do you have to say about Paajarvi? this trade was mainly based around Paajarvi and Ellis.

I wouldn't do Paajarvi for Ellis straight up.

yeah it would be hard for me as well since we have J.Schultz and Klefbom being offensive defenceman that possess size!!

Paajarvi's don't grow on trees.

I'll retract it for him.

Edmonton has Schultz, Whitney and Petry to move the puck. Unless Edmonton is getting a huge upgrade there's no sense in giving up a perfectly good prospect in Magnus just to enhance our bottom pairing.

Oh please, thats a worst case scenario for Ellis. Ellis has tremendous potential and worth. In saying that Musil+Paajarvi is a very good offer. I don't think it works for either team though and here's why.

Edmonton just signed Schultz for the role Ellis would fill. Not that we couldn't use him either. Schultz isn't just an offensive defenseman (2 time defensive player of the year in college as voted by coaches iirc), but it's going to be his calling card.

Nashville just lost Suter, and Weber staying looks like a bit of a longshot IMO. Nashville's need for offense is overstated IMO, they are lacking that true top flight scorer but they have depth in their top 9 and can get offense from everybody.

Edmonton needs size up front, and Paajarvi fits the bill. He's still learning how to asert himself in the NA game, but Berglund took a few years too. It's not like Paajarvi is a ***** either. Also Paajarvi is very underrated, he was flat out terrific in the AHL last year and his resume before this year was outstanding.

Musil is a good prospect, and his dad is a scout with the team. I don't think he gets moved.

This trade may have made sense for us prior to July 1st, but it'd be ridiculous to trade Paajarvi for Ellis now that we have acquired Schultz. Keep Paajarvi and develop him or trade him in a multi player trade where we upgrade at 2C or on D. J. Schultz will be just fine on our PP.

MPS is overrated, Ellis is overrated. Edmonton shouldn't do this, especially considering they can just wait and see if Marincin can pan out along with Klefbom. OTOH, Nashville needs a high-end forward prospect, but with the likely departure of Weber, they should hold on to their D prospects.

Not a bad value trade, I guess, but neither team should do it.

Wouldn't want Ellis at that price, when we have a similar player in Schultz.

My guess is Ellis will require a significant overpayment seeing how Weber could very well could be lost for nothing like Suter in one more season.

Also, Ellis looked pretty damn good in his rookie season. For all of the talk of his size and mobility issues, he didn't seem to be hampered by either. He didn't shy away from physical play, though he isn't big enough to really be very effective in that aspect.

He may very well turn out to be a bust, but so far all of the people who are quick to write him off are looking like they are wrong.
