For sure, just pointing out that he "could" be moved if he agreed to lift his NMC (and someone wanted him, obviously).

I don't doubt the 3m, but the 10x. Come on a 3rd liner should not get 10 years. And no, J.Staal is not a 3rd line guy

Good signing for the Jets, hopefully he puts up similar numbers this year.

I think he meant a 3 year deal worth 10 million wit a 3.33 million cap hit.

What's funnier is that the Jets finished ahead of Toronto in the standings.

I'd suggest you take a look at your own team before you pass judgment on another team's signings. Just food for thought.

Anyway, as I said on our own team boards I could go either way with this signing. Wellwood is really soft (although decently crafty) and he doesn't fit our team's philosophy of getting bigger and tougher to play against.

Perhaps this was done because the Jets lost out on some of the FA they were coveting? Who knows but I'm glad it's only for 1 year, decent enough term and money for the player we're getting.

I wonder what teams would/will give up for him at the deadline. If he plays like last season, I can see a 2nd going the other way..

If we can get a 2nd and a 3rd for Oduya, I think we could snag a little more for Wellwood.

It depends what his role will be this season and how he performs.

If he plays as a top six forward and puts up ~50 points, I think he could fetch a 2nd rounder at the deadline.

If he plays as a utility forward and fills in for injuries (basically Tim Stapleton's replacement) and finishes the year with ~30 points, he might get us a late pick.

It's hard to think of a player more affected by one poorly timed picture than Kyle Wellwood.

The funny thing about that picture is that if Wellwood's arm was 2 inches lower, no one would be making fun of him.

Good luck finding 40+ points for under $2M anywhere else in free agency. Nice signing. He may be small, but he can play.

You do realize that he was released by 2011 Minnesota Wild, right? Not much of a trade bait. Plus he has NMC, as someone else mentioned.

That being said, he's not a bad player. A good 3rd-4th liner with underrated playmaking capabilities and some grit as well. It's a shame he can't finish. At all.
