Kevin Goumas! UNH!

He was second on the team in scoring as a sophomore this past season with 34 points in 36 games. Nine goals, 25 assists.

5'10" and hockeydb has him at 160, but he's bigger than that.

I'm working on id'ing the remaining invites in addition to the 4 already id'd. I'm familiar with NJD depth chart / prospects, but I know you all know it better than I do.

Are Darcy and Kelly Zajac both under AHL contract for '12-13? I know at least one of the Zajac brothers is under AHL contract, can't recall which one or if it's both. Same question for Joe Whitney and Bryan Haczyk?

NJD roster per TG

FA invites id'd so far:

Mike Ambrosia, F, Youngstown/USHL (next Princeton)
J.T. Barnett, F, Everett/WHL
Jack Berger, F, Princeton/NCAA
Marcello Ranallo, F, UConn/NCAA

updates: added
David Friedmann, F, Toronto Jr Can/OJHL
Kevin Goumas, F, UNH/NCAA
Matt Killian, D, Yale/NCAA
Peter McMullen, F, Langley/BCHL
Chris Rawlings, G, Northeastern/NCAA

Devils have announced nothing about any of the sessions from development camp being open to the public. If that changes, I'll let you know.

Kelly only signed an ATO so as far as I know he isn't signed yet. Darcy had an AHL contract but I'm not sure the length on it.

Matt Killian, David Friedmann, Chris Rawlings, Peter McMullen are the other unsigned guys on the roster

Yup, not surprised to see a number of NJ prospects on the invite list. Other teams do it, too, and no surprise to see Lamoriello and co. do it like in the past. Here's what I posted in the prospect section in the main FA invite camp list for all 30 teams. Feedback appreciated.

NJD: July 16-20
Mike Ambrosia, F, Youngstown/USHL (next Princeton)
J.T. Barnett, F, Everett/WHL
Jack Berger, F, Princeton/NCAA
David Friedmann, F, Toronto Jr Can/OJHL
Kevin Goumas, F, UNH/NCAA
Matt Killian, D, Yale/NCAA
Peter McMullen, F, Langley/BCHL
Marcello Ranallo, F, UConn/NCAA
Chris Rawlings, G, Northeastern/NCAA
plus some players who dressed for AHL/ECHL last season and not under NHL contract (Darcy and Kelly Zajac, Joe Whitney, Bryan Haczyk)

Seems like there isn't nearly the talent level that there was at last year's camp. There might be more options for someone to make a splash without having to compete against the likes of Henrique and Yayo and Larsson and the like.

Merrill should have no problem sticking out.

Not surprising to see a lot of forwards as camp invites given the lack of depth at the position. Ambrosia & Friedmann look like the most intriguing invites. Rawlings is a big guy at 6'5, 200 + lbs, maybe a guy to potentially add next year when Frazee becomes a FA again.

Look at all those potential puck-moving defenseman on that roster too. Add in Larsson and Urbom and it's hard not to get excited about what the defense could look like in 3-5 years. A guy who's name probably doesn't stand out very much is Joe Faust, but I'm looking forward to seeing how he performs at this camp and in his JR season at Wisconsin. Could be primed for a big breakout year.

It's a longshot but I want to see Merrill make the big club this year. Would have nine d. Meaning a trade would need to occur

He showed pretty well at the camp last year from what I can remember. Should be more confident the second time around, especially after the year he had. He should be a lot stronger too with that year of development under his belt. If he can maintain his high level of play while bulking up and putting on some muscle, watch out.

Kelly is signed to a one year AHL deal.

out of all the forwards there besides Matteau, I'm very interested in Reid Boucher. I didn't watch much of him in Sarnia Sting, but I heard/watched he has a ridiculous shot, would like to know if he had many any improvements in any other parts of his game though.

edit: nvm found out it's Joe Faust, curious to see him as well.

For forwards, I'd interested in checking out Blake Coleman and, if he was there, Blake Pietila as much as Boucher.

Hard not to be. I'm still not sure how a talent like Boucher fell.

I think it's because he's a one dimensional player. He has to show his one dimension is dominant, like a Sykora, or that he is developing the other facets of his game.

Whitney is one to watch also, wouldn't be shocked if he gets a NHL contract this year.
