6'2, 190, I think. I bet he was between those values. Pelletier might have chosen to round up.

I should probably throw this out here now. We always vote on the MLD All Star Team at the end of the draft. (For the new GMs) getting a player on the MLD All Star team is just for bragging rights - it doesn't affect your team's position at all. The purpose of the team is to highlight players who should probably e selected next time in the main draft.

I feel like there are so many positions open for the AS Team that voting for it is sometimes like throwing darts against a wall.

Idea: Allow each team to pick a certain number of players (3-5?) to officially lobby for prior to the AS Teams.

Awesome idea. We can make-the-case for our players, have mini-argument (3-5 lines) in support of our candidates. That would make the process more reasonable and informed.

In fact, we could also have a Hart Trophy by having each team select an MVP and then we all vote on who is the league MVP from that list.

Yup. Each team pick up to 5 of their players as candidates for the AS team and give a short (1 paragraph or less) argument in support. GMs can feel free to vote for candidates that weren't lobbied for. The 5 player limit is to stop GMs from lobbying for their whole team

Like your idea for each team to pick their MVP and have us all vote on the overall MVP

that's a good idea. If we did that, then my whole defense corps would have been all-stars instead of just one of them. I would have chosen 5 of them to lobby for.

Obviously, Tumba Johansson had to be picked #1 overall. If I remember corretly, he was far and away the best player available on my list at the end of the ATD. I will venture to say he will stick out as a true superstars in the MLD.

Nice to see the MLD rolling. Good luck gentleman!

Always a gamble with players that don't really have a direct frame of reference. He did put up good totals in IIHF events, but was often outscored by Canadian amateurs, so it's tough to get an exact read.

The problem to me is how he was outscored. Quality of competition etc. I remember Sid Smith played in WC with the Dunlops. He outscored Tumba for example but those swedish teams were often a one line and one pairing team. They basically had nothing beyond that and Tumba was by far the best player on those teams.

Edit: The teams got a bit better in the 60's.

Agreed. I like the way the divisions fell so perhaps a slightly less obvious favorite will make the Finals. I already have my 2013 and 2014 draft lists set, but it's nice to get ideas for spares.

Thanks for your patience, everyone.

With our first pick, the Winston-Salem Polar Twins are proud to select C Ulf Nilsson.

xxx, Ulf Nilsson and Bobby Hull were a virtually unstoppable international line for the Jets.

Skilled, playmaking top-line center. One of the first Europeans to star in North America.

WHA 1st All-Star 1976, 1978
WHA 2nd All-Star 1977
AVCO Cup champion 1976, 1978
WHA Playoff MVP 1976
World Championship silver medalist (1973), bronze medalist (1974)

- Averaged 121 points per WHA season, never lower than 4th leaguewide
- 169 points in 170 games in the NHL regular season, 22 points in 25 playoff games
- From 1979-81, his NHL regular season stats are a hair better than Ken Linseman. His playoff line is comparable to Steve Shutt or Brian Propp.
- Targeted and injured by Denis Potvin, leading to a shortened NHL career and the origin of the "Potvin Sucks!" chant.

A pick worth waiting for! No question marks there, not at the MLD level.

Good pick on Nilsson, was ready to pounce on him at #8 if he was still available.

Nice pick, guys. I'm not sure quite what to make of the photo in that bio...

Question: when constructing a bio, are we including negatives as well, or are we selling our player? I don't have a specific example because I haven't started, but say Player X gets called lazy in a news article. Does that go into the bio?

The Zambia Mania are pleased to select their starting goalie - Paddy Moran

Hopefully, the biography than TDMM and I have put together on him will show why he is by far the best goalie in the MLD. He was a guy we decided needed a good profile, and we were blown away by the amount of good stuff was available. He seems to be an old-world version of Billy Smith.

- Hockey Hall of Fame
- starting goalie for 15 years
- 2 x Stanley Cup champion
- contemporaries rave about him
- 1905 All-Star
- Lester Patrick's All-Time Team
- Newsy Lalonde's All-Time "Mean Team"
- Russell Bowie's toughest goalie to score on

Here is the bio: http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh...87&postcount=4

That's entirely up to you. It's your player and your bio. Do you want people to think your player is great, or do you want the ATD world to be fully educated?

There is a MLD 2012 Bio thread to put bios on. Please use it.

The ATD 2012 thread is supposed to be for ATD picks, not for lower drafted guys you believe should have been in the ATD!

While I was certainly an advocate of picking Moran, don't give me too much credit. You did about 95% of the profile yourself.

We originally wanted to start our team with either Brian Campbell or Paddy Moran. Definitely happy with the way things turned out

Good pick. Definitely one of the best offensive players left. And while faceoff prowess isn't the most important intangible, it's still a nice one for your top center to have

Interested to hear thoughts on this from others. Should we continue to have a separate bio list for MLDs or should all bios from the same year go in the same thread. What is easier for future research? I'm assuming Dreakmur just ****ed up, but perhaps putting all bios for a year in the same thread might be better?

(I'll move the rouge bio(s) to the appropriate thread when we decide).
