You know each team has a different list. We're saying the word "steal" because of Bob Mackenzie ranking or NHL's, which isn't the other ten teams rankings before Washington.
Look at this, a bitter Avs fan.
He was ranked the #1 Euro Skater and in the top 5 by almost every single scouting service/tsn/etc.
He was also only the 3rd Forward taken. (Also, ranked the 3rd forward by most of those scouting services/tsn/etc)
It was because teams took a run on defense. Not because they had him ranked low.
If getting Forsberg later than he was ranked is an automatic steal, is drafting Wilson ahead of where he was ranked an automatic bust ?
Forsberg is a tremendously skilled player. Like it has been said, all it takes is for the teams to like 1 player more than Forsberg and he could continue to fall while the other teams that passed on him had him ranked 5th, but had their 4th overall guy available.
Was really impressed with him during the development camp scrimmages this week. Protects the puck very well and his hockey sense is fantastic. Definitely the smartest forward in camp, he was making all sort of plays through traffic and through defense but often his linemates weren't expecting them or couldn't convert. He always seemed to know where to go and the puck had a way of finding him. Especially considering he was the youngest player at the camp and competing against guys who were up to five years older than him, I'm really excited.
I like Forsberg, during the draft knowing the Sabres were getting either him or Grigorenko made me jump for joy, both of them are going to be perennial PPG all-star players. Those 2 and Yakupov will be the 3 best forwards from the draft.

Impressive predictions considering the lack of perennial ppg players the NHL has and the fact you can't have seen much of either play hockey.
Has Bob ever talked about whether his 10 scouts are all NA based or if there are Euros as well? Lots of Europeans seem to be climbing after the new year, which would indicate that they are based in NA, I guess.
Caps beat writer was saying that Forsberg's contract won't likely begin until 2013-14 as he's expected to play in Sweden next year.
I was actually thinking the same thing about Yakupov as the general consensus is that the #1 overall pick is the easiest to sign because you just give him the max. But, when you think about it, he had a busy couple weeks the draft with the Oilers prospect camp being just over a week later, so the Oilers probably told him to go and take some time off and they'd hammer something out after a couple weeks off.
Im pretty sure he went to Russia to train/try out for the Russia Canada series in August. He should be signed sooner then later, but recent overall picks such as Stamkos and Tavares weren't signed until mid off season. Taylor hall was signed July 5th 2010 and I'm pretty sure RNH was signed July 2nd 2011, so is some cause for worry. Its probably nothing though.

There's a guy drafted 3rd overall named Galchenyuk who says Hi!
how is it bold...those are three of the first four fowards drafted....
Is this a joke? What does it matter where they were drafted? Forsberg's chances of busting out are just as good as him becoming a super star. And there will be several guys who become stars from the later rounds.
