Rielly about the same as Kadri for me. Probably Rielly higher potential. Different types of strengths for both.

Reilley, Kadri's play last season was below expectation, his prospect grade slipped this year for me.

i think Kadri is still a top prospect, but is edged out by Rielly IMO, he has more potential than Kadri ever had. Rielly can be fairly considered potential top pairing material, while i don't remember Kadri every realistically being potential first line material, more likely second line.

Can someone answer please, when do 'Rookie Users' gain the ability to vote in polls?

This is generally my feeling as well. I'm optimistic that a full healthy season will supplant is position atop the rankings, but for now I don't see how he's earned the top spot over someone like Kadri.

I think you could be safe with Reilly first here. I like Kadri but at this point, his development has been iffy. Wouldn't be shocked to see him moved even though I believe he has obvious talent and should fit in our top 6 somewhere.

I'm going to go with Rielly. I just think he's got a crazy amount of potential and for that reason has to go at the top. I like Kadri and his ability, but just feel like Rielly should be at that top spot. Of course comparing forwards and defencemen is a tricky bit of business, but that's just how I see it.

Think Kadri will easily snag the second spot so not a big deal I think. In the end just have to look at the prospects and go with what you think is right.

Could be 1A and 1B

Hard to compare players with different skill sets and positions

I went with Kadri b/c I'd like to see Rielly dominate a year of junior first.

+ d'Amigo to next poll

Rielly is taking over top spot on the list. Tons of potential for this kid.

I say Reily. I'm concerned about Kadri, his production at both the AHL and NHL level has gone down the last two years which is not very encouraging. The organization is not doing a good job developing him.

Have you watched Kadri play this past year? He looks much better than he did in previous seasons. His point production in the AHL may have dropped very slightly, but his game is rounding out nicely and he really improved his defensive effort and team play. His point production in the AHL is actually ahead of many of the other guys in his draft class so I don't think there's any reason for concern. Now that he's training hard with Gary Roberts this summer we can expect that he'll be stronger and in better shape coming into camp. He should make the Leafs this year.

2009 draft looks like about 20 good picks, 9 strong picks, 4-5 excellent picks, that are the cream. There are several 3rd. tier players coming out of that draft and they should be NHL players within the next 2 seasons. It really is too early to have any final grade though.

Tier 1:
1. John Tavares
2. Ryan O'Reilly
3. Matt Duchene
4. Oliver Ekman-Larsson

Tier 2:
5. Evander Kane
6. Dmitri Kulikov
7. Victor Hedman
8. Kyle Clifford
9. Marcus Johansson

Tier 3 in order of games played.
Nick Leddy
Magnus Paajarvi-Svensson
Jared Cowen
Jordan Caron
Jacob Josefson
John Moore
Brayden Schenn
Nazem Kadri
Zack Kassian
Louis Leblanc
Ryan Ellis
David Rundblad
Kyle Palmieri

Desjardins estimates that about 40% of the game is captured by Corsi analysis.

Good thing you know more development than burke and company.

Kadri was tearing it up when he came up at the end of the year, they had to send him back down or we wouldn't have gotten the #5 pick

Agreed.

I think Kadri has a better chance at having an impact at the NHL level than a few of the guys who have played more games than him. Then again, I think a guy like Kassian could also have a greater impact than Kadri so the amount of games played at the NHL level so far don't really have much impact on their actual level of play or how well they're developing. The Leafs are taking their time with Kadri and I think that'll be better for him in the long run.
