It sucks really, especially in NW Slovenia. But usually the next day is hot so no worries .

Haha, yeah, but it was mainly storming at night. The day was mostly sunny except some storms moving around that you could see coming miles off.
Just got into Ljubljana, looking at what to go see this afternoon. I'll probably wander old town and try to head up to the castle.
I had both the Union and Lasko as well in Bled. Good, easy-drinking beers both, but pretty standard light lagers/pilsners.
Yep, nothing spectacular. I am not a big beer fan, but more of a wine fan . Slovenia has lots and lots and lots of vineyards. We Slovenians like to drink .

If you have time Beer and flovers festival is going on from thursday to sunday in Laško near Celje. It's like October fest but Slovenia style. Of course smaller but always fun.

The plan is to go out to Maribor tomorrow, which would take me past there, but I'll be riding the bike, so won't really be able to do any drinking.

Maybe you can advise as to where to drink then. Came back to the hotel to drop off all the tickets and papers and such collected from museums before going to grab some dinner. Know any good places? Not like to party (not clubs), but just drink a few beers.

It's a micro-brewery from Slovenj Gradec, they serve it in Zlata Ladjica (Golden Ship), which is located beside Ljubljanica river, there's also a pretty new water fountain nearby if you have trouble locating the pub. If you go from Prešern square, looking at the three bridges, just turn right, walking beside Ljubljanica, it's about 5 min away.
Also, if you can, you should also check out some sites in the other former Yugoslav countries, like Plitvičko lakes. If you head further south for Bosnia and Herzegovina, stop by Dubrovnik, it's a historic site. If you reach Bosnia, you definately must have čevapčiči [chewapchichi] with kajmak [khaymack]. You won't regret it, I promise.

You don't really need to reach Bosnia to eat čevapčiči and kajmak . In Ljubljana there are more then many places where you can try them. And yes, you will not regret it .

I've tasted nothing in Ljubljana that is close to what I've tasted in Bosnia or Serbia. Maybe I'll give Harambaša a go, but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

I went to the Postojna caves and the Predjama castle this morning and Maribor in the evening. Got back to Ljubljana at around 21, read the posts here and went to Harambasa, got some cevapcici (forgive my lack of accent marks) and some sort of sausage complete with Sarajevsko beer before going to Zlata Ladjica to get a pint of Human Fish. Excellent suggestions on all counts, hvala.
I know it's different now, but I have to admit that my mental image of Bosnia is still of the war. When I think of Sarajevo, I think of that picture of the burning building during the siege. I could probably cut a day off my time in Croatia and head out there, but I don't know, I'm very much looking forward to just relaxing on the beach for a few days.
Anyway, thus ends my time in Slovenia; I ride for Croatia tomorrow. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here.

We used to have a wonderful restaurant in town whose specialty was čevapčiči and I can't possibly spell the other one, but it was sort of a lamb shish kebab (begins with "R"). Both amazing. Here I am, sitting at work with my mouth watering and my stomach growling.

The only thing that starts with R and has a resemblance of shish kebab (i.e. meat and vegetables on a stick) are ražnjiči.

be aware road ( now here is where I'm a bit uncertain) dangerously cut (sides) or leaning the wrong way. I guess you know what fits best since you drove the road yourself.
