Erskine is chronic alright. He chronically sucks. That's what has kept him on the bench, nothing more.

Under the heading "players who give a damn", you'll find Ovechkin and Green, not what you're hinting at.

The silver lining in all of this involving our defense is that come next July 1, the likes of Hamrlik, Poti, Erskine and Hillen will all be off the books, that's a total of 8.525 million.

Schilling for sure will be slotted in to one of those vacancies. Don't know if Wey would be immediately ready or need some time/experience in the AHL but if he was that's 2 of the 4 spots taken and possibly Kundratek could make it 3 of the 4 spots.

That would be one abysmal defense.

For the love of God just get rid of JFS.

Haha well he might be better than JFS. I'm just saying he's not a top 4 dman anymore. He gets caught flat footed all the time and couldn't catch a cold once a forward blows by him; he's positionally okay, but not good enough to make up for his lack of speed when facing top sixers.

We'll see. What I saw of Schilling at the development camp this past week, he reminds me a bit of Poti, whereas Wey a little of Alzner.

Yeah, but getting all three of those into the lineup at once under those circumstances would be a recipe for disaster, and we certainly can't be sure they'll all reach their potential.

That tool Gormley tweeted something about Green wanted two years but took the 3rd because he likes DC or something.

Edit - Adding the actual tweet from said tool.

The 2013 UFAs defenseman list is not all that impressive. You do have Scuderi, Regehr and Murray from San Jose on the list though.

Just for the record...if healthy...this is a great contract.

If injured...Carlson and Orlov get more minutes...which is fine by me...but the contact wont be as great.

I know he takes a lot of ****...but he really is a game changing player when he's healthy.

If there was a bet made, I'll pay. Don't recall though.

Meh.. Caps put themselves in a tough situation, so in that sense, the deal is not terrible.

Can't say I'm optimistic though. Three more years of fragile playoff mediocrity.. and then again, either pay through the nose or he walks. Whatever. Prove us wrong Greenie, I guess..

he "was" a game changer....he hasnt been in a couple years. Blame health....thats fine. Doesnt change a thing. If he were the greatest player ever it doesnt matter when he isnt on the ice.

Im not ready to assume that 2 years of being injured hasnt taken its toll on overall play.....which, was never "game changing" when it really mattered.

I dont hate the guy....but to expect him to be a better player (and thats what they need from a 6+ mil Dman, someone who steps up in the spring) after two seasons of injuries is a wishful thinking IMO...

Just for the record...of the existing roster players, I really only really hate Schultz anymore. Semin is gone so I'm not counting him anymore.

I like the rest of the roster when they play the way they can play.

Edit: Wait....I dont like Perrault much either. But I guess I don't have the same angst towards him as I do Schultz.
