Speculation on Iginla, Kipper and Jaybo

For the Flames the big rumors that HFboard posters are thinking and some sports columnist have thought that Iginla, Jaybo and Kipper could be on the trading block and should be traded if the Flames want to get younger and rebuild. Right now I do not think it is wise to trade anyone of those players until we are certain on who will replace them. Iginla can score 30+ goals even in a bad year, Jaybo log lots of minutes average 25 to 27, Kipper can play 70+ games per year.

What do you think the Flames realistically should do. I would keep Kipper and trade him next year when Ramo comes. Trade Iginla at the deadline as a contending teams will overpay and if he resigns with that team we will get a first round pick. If the Flames get a good offer for Jaybo then trade him.

It's for certain none are leaving for the time being. Probably should wait out and let the season actually start before making speculation

As long as Feaster is GM, they won't go anywhere.

As of right now, none are leaving. I think Feaster's hands are tied, as the ownership is in the "win now" mode.

I don't see any of these core players being traded atm, maybe Bouwmeester if the offer knocks Feaster's socks off......and he can get JBo to waive.

But whatever:

Iginla, to Philly for Voracek, 2013 1st
Bouwmeester to Montreal for Kaberle, 2013 1st
Kipper to Toronto for Franson, 2013 1st

FORWARDS
Alex Tanguay ($3.500m) / Mike Cammalleri ($6.000m) / Jakub Voracek ($4.000m)
Curtis Glencross ($2.550m) / Roman Cervenka ($3.775m) / Jiri Hudler ($4.000m)
Sven Baertschi ($1.425m) / Mikael Backlund ($0.725m) / Lee Stempniak ($2.500m)
Lance Bouma ($0.693m) / Blair Jones ($0.650m) / Blake Comeau ($1.250m)
Matt Stajan ($3.500m) / Tim Jackman ($0.613m)

DEFENSEMEN
Mark Giordano ($4.020m) / Dennis Wideman ($5.250m)
Tomas Kaberle ($4.250m) / Chris Butler ($1.250m)
T.J. Brodie ($0.742m) / Cory Sarich ($2.000m)
Cody Franson ($0.900m) / Derek Smith ($0.775m)

GOALTENDERS
Karri Ramo ($2.500m)
Leland Irving ($0.750m)
------
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $70,200,000; CAP PAYROLL: $57,617,916; BONUSES: $3,636,250
CAP SPACE (24-man roster): $12,582,084

Draft day would be fun with 4 1st rounders in a deep draft lol.
Two from teams that picked top 5 in 2012, and with the above roster the Flames 1st would have a pretty good chance of being high as well.

Still, Kipper and Iggy are going nowhere IMO.

We ice a better team currently, so if it's draft picks you want, trade some depth player's at the deadline. Who knows, maybe Comeau will score 20 goals and garner a first rounder. Maybe Cervenka will do the same.

On another note, whatever happened to Kaberle? Being traded from Toronto really screwed up his career.

I think you trade them all for very specific organizational depth. I think the Flames are very weak on the right wing and on the blueline featuring a right hand shot. I'd move all three of those assets, and probably include Cammalleri in that group as well, and target for quick rebuild over the next three to four years.

The Flames need a stud on the blueline in the worst way. They have some very good depth, but mostly on the left side. Guys I would target are Dougie Hamilton (BOS), Jonathon Blum (NAS), Ryan Ellis (NAS), and Stefan Elliott (Colorado). The Flames also need a top end right wing. Guys I would target are Charlie Coyle (MIN), Emerson Etem (ANA), and Joel Armia (BUF). More established players that could help would be Voracek (PHI), Okposo (NYI), and Stewart (STL). I would think that with Iginla, Kiprusoff, Bouwmeester and Cammalleri as bait you should be able to acquire a player to fill each of those holes on the blueline and on the right side.

I like.

As for the Kaberle comment, he's been slowing down in the same manner as Redden. Great break out pass and decent vision but overtime, because of certain weaknesses like lack of shooting (ability/tendancy), average foot speed and no physicality to speak of, there's not much that he can do especially when pressured physically.
