I couldn't stand the first pick we made this draft. I thought it was definitely the wrong one, but, it was only because of that, that we were able to nab this kid.
This guy could end up being a very good defenceman for us. Shutdown D-man who can hit hard, but at only 6 foot who knows if his big hitting game will translate to the NHL, especially when he tries to take a run at a 6'4 guy.
More mobile yet smaller version of Sarich. #4 dman who can hit very hard.
Josh Gorges or a less offensive version of Kronwall would probably be better comparisons, not the biggest guys around, but putting the head down means that there will be a problem. Has a mean streak like Cory Sarich though.
Also, how are you already slotting him in a #4? God knows how this kid will develop? That kid everyone was gushing about this summer in Schultz went in the second round a few years ago, he has more offensive upside, but you never know how this kid could spark... could end up being a top pair shut downer, or could turn out to never see the NHL.
Josh Gorges sounds like a good comparison. If he becomes a legitimate #4, we've found a hell of a gem.

A lot of guys don't even belong in the NHL because of their trajectory. Give him a couple years and make the call, guys has been a one pairing so far in his young career. Let him develop.
