Is this the reason that ridiculous Subban being shopped thread is on the main trade board here? Honestly I never thought I'd ever see the day Bruin fans wanting PK on their team.
99,9% of the time? No one accepts them, especially since after ELC contracts the QO doesn't even have bonuses.
Umm... no. I think you'll find that there are plenty of players who have fulfilled their ELC's but haven't cracked the full time NHL roster yet, and end up signing the Q.O. put before them. I think you'll even find plenty of "role players" (players who crack the NHL on the 4th line, for example, and still find themselves patrolling said 4th line three years later. And without having investigated it further at this point, I still have to assume that more than a handful of those guys actually accept their Q.O. around the league each year.
edit: Just checked the FA board, and I think we even have an example today of someone signing their Q.O.: Teddy Peckman (known to everyone except Don Cherry as Theo Peckham) just re-signed with the Oilers for $1.075M, which I have to assume is his Q.O. (will have to double-check, though).

Markov reminds the HFboards habs group to please remove Subban's balls from your mouths when trying to type.
HF has forgotten about Markov and thinks he's done because of his knee injuries. I think he'll make everyone remember he's our top D, but it's still a bet.

I watched a lot of playoff games and could not believe how terrible most Dman are at making passes on the PP. Markov makes it look so easy, he is one of the best PP specialist around.

Until Markov proves otherwise Subban is our number 1 D. Markov is really talented, more than PK, but there's no way he comes back and is as dominant as was before his injuries. I don't buy it.

Nevertheless, having both of them on the bench and properly playing makes us a playoff team.
They are both high tier D talents.
PK will only get better.

I'm aware. You just took my 99.9% literally. In regards to free agents who aren't depth players, it's rarely signed. In regards to 1 mil(or so) and less, it's signed more often than not unless they push for a one way deal and accept less in doing so.

Well, it is a pretty gross exaggeration, plus you said "no one accepts them", so... I mean... that's just not even close to right. Maybe 99.9% of players in almost exactly Subban's position refuse them, but "on the whole" or league/NHLPA-wide the number is far more significant than 0.1%, I believe.
Seriously, I know things are slow and folks are craving for any habs action but is it really necessary to start threads on every single bit of meaningless or obvious information?
Wow you would bet everything on an offer you know nothing about ? Why do you assume it was the minimum qualifying offer ?
P.K. SUBBAN'S QUALIFYING OFFER IS FOR $826,875.
Because his base salary of $787,500 — total salary of $875,000 minus signing bonus of $87,500 — is greater than $660,000 and less than $1,000,000, it is increased by 5 percent for the purposes of his qualifying offer.
NOTE: It must be a one-way qualifying offer if a) the player appeared in 180 or more NHL games in three previous seasons; b) the player appeared in 60 or more NHL games the previous season; and c) the player did not clear waivers during the previous season. Backup goaltender appearances count as games.

This does not say this was the offer , only that it is the MINIMUM QO which is well understood. My point is without knowing the offer itself how could anyone bet someone would reject it . A qualifying offer could be a much larger number than the minimum shown here .

No, according to the CBA, for a player like PK Subban, who made between $660,000 and $1,000,000 in base salary last season, his qualifying offer cannot exceed $1,000,000.
CBA REFERENCE: Section 10.2 a-ii-b) (Page 31)
Quote:
(B) if the player's prior year's Paragraph 1 NHL Salary is greater than $660,000, but less than $1,000,000 for that League Year, 105% of his prior year's Paragraph 1 NHL Salary, but in no event to exceed $1,000,000.
