So the optimist in me has me thinking RAJ reportedly offers him a big deal, he turns it down, we trade him at the deadline for studs, Cole re-signs with us in the offseason. Win-Win.

Although I don't see a team trading studs to rent Hamels for less than half a season.
The Phillies have so many holes and bad contracts, I don't think extending Hamels is a move that positions them any better for the future. At first I wanted him re-signed at any cost, but I've changed my mind over the course of the season. Trading Hamels for a king's ransom in prospects would be the best thing for this team moving forward. Amaro really needs to reshape this roster and inject some new life. Just my opinion.

I kind of feel the same way. When you dish out long term deals like that, you are really only paying for 3-4 years of their prime play. You could fill many holes with the money offered to Hamels plus prospects. On the other hand, the new TV deal is coming and they want to keep people in the seats after this f-up of a season.
Good Riddance. If this team wants to compete in the future they're going to have to say goodbye to their aging stars of the past. If the Dodgers will take Rollins you jump on it.

Oh yeah, from a baseball standpoint it would be a miracle to deal him. But as many of you know, I prefer when the Phillies are playing the way they are now as opposed to recent seasons, not to mention JRoll is one of my favorite players of all time.
I don't know about trading Jimmy, unless they have some kind of plan on replacing him because they don't have any SS in the system. Rollins is still one of the better SS in the game. Everyone seems to think he's having a bad year, yet his stats show he's probably a top 5-10 offensive SS in the Majors again so far this year. His still really solid defensively.
I know Galvis is an option, but he can't hit. Rollins' Avg was higher than Freddy's OBP. Galvis had some important hits, but overall he didn't really hit that well or get on base. He played awesome D though.
Yeah I think they are kidding themselves if they think they are going to sign Hamels before the offseason. Unless Hamels is dead set on staying in Philly (which he clearly isn't), they need to just deal him. Even if they don't get the return they want, something is better than nothing. Re-stock the cupboard, suck for a few years, rinse, repeat.
What the hell's going on? Definitely encouraging, no reason to think we can't make a run with Doc solidifying the rotation. It'd be a comeback of epic proportions.
