Just to provide the opposing argument, he also played with inferior players in the SEL compared to the NHL. If he ends up on Spezza's wing on any point, it'll be the best hockey player he's ever been on a line with.

Look, I hope for the best with this kid, but I think we should keep expectations realistic.

He's nowhere near the level of prospect that Spezza was either.
Truth.

I'd be ecstatic if he put up 40 points. I have a feeling his point totals are going to disappoint a lot of people on this site.

Yeah let's think of, Arvedson, Johansson or Dackell first. If he can equal their production, that's success.

Expecting another Alfredsson is most likely going to end with disappointment.

Johansson was unreal in his season with the Sens haha. My favourite player that year.

Just a thought

If every prospect has a 2nd line 40 point ceiling, then where do all the better players come from

It just seems to be what hf thinks about every player taken out of the top 3

He beat alfie's playoff scoring title. Hes better than alfie.

Gonna share the captaincy with karlsson for 20 years

Some people though like myself like to temper expectations and be pleasantly surprised rather than be disappointed that a kid didn't live up to the unfair expectations placed upon him.

Win more Hart trophies than Forsberg, more Norris' than Lidstrom, more career points than Sundin, more Vezina's than Lundqvist...

Silfv's ceiling is enormous, sky is the limit for him. Heh as already set the bar pretty high and has everyone raving about it. Pretty good start.

Too bad he's only played one mediocre NHL game so far.

On jetlag, in the stanley cup, on a new team, new coach, new ice, new country, I will pass judgement until I see him for a full season

Regular season MVP, Playoffs MVP. Broke goal-scoring record. Youngest since Forsberg. Getting rave reviews from every Swedish fan. Excellent both ends of the ice, youngest captain ever? Strong leader.

He is the most exciting forward since Spezza without a doubt.

Was hoping there would be a few one-timers in there (we could really use a guy who has a good one other than Alfie), but no cigar... But he sure can shoot.

Yes. Z-bad's one-timer immediately came to mind.

Something a lot of you will see next year from Silfverberg is how he reads the game so well. He makes simple, simple plays that go such a long way to creating a scoring chance. We saw some of it last year when the Sens had a good 3 minute attack in the NYR zone and Silfverberg was in the middle of it all, using his skates, body, stick etc... to confuse the d and make more room for his teammates.
On Sifverberg and his ability to protect the puck and create chances through defensive coverage, that description makes me eager to see him and Stone play together. Stone is an unbelievable puck possession guy on the cycle, and can make room for a snipe while having two defensemen draped on him. If we have two guys willing and able to shoot like that on the ice, I can see them lined up for a lot of offensive zone faceoffs.

I'm actually hoping to see a bit more puck possession skill than I see in those videos.

He's like the anti-gilroy, always scoring instead of hanging on until all the scoring opportunities disappear one by one

Highlight reel videos aren't ever made to show a players puck possession ability.

If you watched his games you saw puck possession qualities.

35 points seems pretty realistic to me. Nothing wrong with that either...

What are these point projections based on in terms of opportunitites? Top-6 and PP time and still just 35 points?

If he maintains a top 6 spot all year he'll probably be around 50 points. Question is does he maintain a top 6 position. No doubt he gets a chance to keep one.
