I remember reading that Brennan would have to clear waivers to be sent back to AHL next season. Is that still the case?

Yes and he'll most likely very easily clear waivers.

And we just got several forms of that. Young and fresh.

My initial reaction was that Tarnasky was a Turnbull replacement for Rochester. Which is fine.

This certainly doesn't preclude an additional AHL signing. We shall see.

Seems like an identity adjustment continues. Maybe he is there to guide Girgs in the art of pugilism if he plays in the A, or protect the young pups.

Still hope for some scoring.

Seems like his role is likely to replace Turnbull. Still could use more scoring in the A, but signing tough guys and scorers aren't mutually exclusive activities.

That game was hilariously absurd and embarrassing

There's absolutely nothing to complain about signing Tarnasky. I like the signing. Not only are we getting tougher up here but we're helping them get tougher down there too. That's never a bad thing, especially in this organization as we have seen for years now. Tarnasky's a clear AHL signing but he's a veteran and with the veterans we've already lost, we needed to add some more. I have no problems with this.

He'll likely maybe see a recall (knowing us and injuries) but he surely won't be first or even second in line and definitely won't be on our NHL roster to start off as the 4th line center. That problem still has to be addressed. This is purely a Rochester signing, nothing more, which is why I don't see the reason to complain. Adding a tough veteran who was at one time an NHL player is fine by me.

The Amerks need scoring, yes, but you can't complain about who we got for down there so far. Mancari and Porter are very good AHL players and Tarnasky brings a lot in the non-scoring department. He'll be good for our prospects.

Also, glad to see we're keeping Brennan. I had no problems with his play last year and I think he's got something in the NHL eventually, even if it is as small as a bottom-pairing or a 7th defenseman role. I don't know if he'll clear waivers though. I think there's a definite risk he could be claimed at some point if he's exposed to waivers multiple times this year.

Tarnasky can actually play the game a bit, he was pretty effective at times with the Lightning. He may get called up at some point but it's a good veteran tough guy addition for Rochester.

LOL 3 minor league lifers that are nothing but thugs who cant skate or do anything else. Guys who just delay the inevitable of joining the real world.

Have a fine memory of Mirasty that useless bum losing his cool and throwing his helmet in the oppositions bench.

No complaints about the Brennan signing.

***

Tarnasky had seven "fights" last season and five times his opponent did not receive a fighting major! In total, 129 of his 173 PIM resulted directly from these five instances. Tough guy alert.

Here Tarnasky #47 is going after a diminutive forward and then chases around Zherdev:

...and here he is again with last-second shenanigans in a road loss:

...and well, here are the two fights where his opponent actually received a fighting major:

...and BTW, Tarnasky won't scare Lucic in the least; as a rookie, Looch had his way with him:

...to sum up, I agree with Helo and think the guy's trash!

lol.... Yes he is... But I'm still fine with it for Rochester. I doubt he sees anytime with the Sabres.

Armia and company probably will be targeted with some aggressive play, it's good to have some toughness to look after those guys.

I remember watching a young Tarnasky play for the Springfield Falcons. His edginess with a bit of talent for a big guy stood out in my book. I think this is great for the Amerks and on occasion for a 4th line recall!

Tarnasky isn't a terrible player. I think he started fighting more after turning pro probably to get more games in the NHL, but he's not a 1-dimensional goon.

And judging by his KHL numbers and Vitaz's history, he was probably told to 'goon it up' over there.

Tarnasky is a piece of ****, to put it mildly.

He was part of the Vityaz squad in KHL which found running down helpless and unsuspecting players fun and enjoyable.

Sadistic piece of human thrash.

Anybody who, at some point in their career, gets traded for Wade Belak straight up? Boss.

6'3, 230lbs., listed as a centerman...20 fights in his last season in the AHL. Tarnasty? Sick Tarnasky? Starnasty? K done.
