Hawks hired the coach of Kings PP ,, Kings PP last year was 17th in NHL (Ours was 26th)

17th with a worse roster > 26th with a better roster. So with a better roster he should do 10th-15th. I wouldn't complain with an average PP because of last year, but with our roster we should be top 10 at the very least...

Whatever. I don't think the special teams can really get any worse anyway.

Less offensively talented. Their system and goalie are better than ours, but I was referring to the offensive talent, considering we are talking about the PP...

Right...because it isn't possible to win the Cup with less overall talent.

Put up or shut up.

Stan should already be looking for a replacement. He may not need one yet, but at least if he starts the search now, he won't be scrambling if he has to find one in December.

Kings fans treat him the same way we treat Kitchen.

Plus he wasn't hired away from the Kings, they just didn't renew his contract.

What does that mean for us? Who knows, but those aren't exactly positive indicators.

Except LA actually has some big bodies that can cause havoc in front of the net unlike the Hawks.

Meh. It barely matters. The coaching of this team was already so bad - whether this guy is good, bad, or in between won't change much.

here is a blog that adam jahns linked to on kompon getting fired. it sure sounds like we have a real winner on our hands:

http://lakingsnews.com/2012/06/22/jamie-kompon-fired/

a couple of highlights?

Quote:
Those who have read us regularly know that I was not (and am not) a fan of Jamie Kompon…and that is being kind. I considered he and Terry Murray to be a major part of the L.A. Kings offensive problems, although Murray had the ever redeeming quality of building a defensive system that was the foundation for the L.A. Kings playoff success.

We won the Stanley Cup. We did so despite having Kompon as our powerplay coach.

Scouting report on Jamie Kompon from someone who would know:" utterly incompetent in handling the power play." #Blackhawks

Another Q cronie saved from finding employment outside the NHL by Q. The expecation should be that the speciality teams will be just as bad as last year and as long as Q is the coach, I see no reason to expect that the defensive structure/system will have the drastic overhaul it needs.

I'm expecting Q to be fired by January, assuming the season starts in early December.

Ah, well. I think I had my hopes a bit too high expecting the Hawks to find someone with a positive history coaching the PP. I mean, that's just too obvious a factor for them to consider. Better to just hire another clown instead.

I can't help but agree at this point. Unless Quenneville and his assistants suddenly change philosophies completely, this team is going to be no different than last year - especially given that the roster looks to be almost exactly the same. And when they're a month into underachieving for the third year in a row, I don't think Quenneville will last very long.

But hey, at least there won't be anymore "dysfunction" in the coaching staff; now there'll only be dysfunction between the coaching staff and the players. Hooray!

Like I said, Q's going to be gone by January.

Hahaha. Weren't there several reports last year that players were extremely dissatisfied and frustrated with the coaching staff, especially relating to the PP? I'm looking forward to plenty more where that came from.

Before joining L.A., he spent nine years (1997-2006) with the St. Louis Blues as a video coach and later as an assistant coach, working the bulk of his time under Head Coach Joel Quenneville and alongside Assistant Coach Mike Kitchen. With Quenneville, Kitchen and Kompon, the 1999-2000 Blues set a franchise-record 113 points en route to the Presidents’ Trophy for the league’s best record. In the spring of 2006 he served as a video coach for Team Canada at the World Championships in Latvia.
Looks like its Qs pick. No excuses now for a faltering pp or defense.

Well, sorry guys. Kompon is terrible. The only reason our PP turned around is because Sutter and Nicholls took over. Kompon can't set up offense or PP

Don't worry about it - we've all already gotten used to seeing that type of PP here in Chicago.

like I said, bowman is giving q the rope to hang himself. st's suck again this year and the team has a disappointing season and he's got enough ammo to fire q.
