Good move for the Kings. Dwight has so much potential. Anyone know any info on Nolan?

King is going to be a 20 goal scorer in this league, with terrific board work. He has another gear in his game - hopefully the playoff experience and winning his first career fight give him the confidence to step forward and play an edgier version of that power game he seems built to thrive in. Dude's a keeper

With King officially on board, every player who appeared for Los Angeles during the 2012 postseason is signed for next season.

I like King and the Kings but I am having a hard time seeing King as a 20 goal scorer.

he reminds me a lot of Andrew Brunette in his younger days. I think King is capable of a couple of 20 goal seasons in his career but I think a typical season for him will be 14-18 goals per year.

Andrew Brunette? I don't see it. Brunette is a playmaking top six LW. King is significantly bigger than Brunette and has more of a net presence and isn't really a playmaker like Brunette is. I would compare his style more towards a Mike Knuble. Don't know if he'll score as many goals as Knuble, but they play a similar game in crashing the net and have very similar builds. Knuble was also a late bloomer who didn't break out as a top six winger until he was 30.

I feel the same way about King as I did about Brandon Yip on the Avs after his rookie '09-'10 season. Unfortunately, Yip didn't pan out as well as I hoped. I pray that doesn't happen with King.

Would have been better if they had signed Dwight Shrute.

In the regular season as a rookie, he was on pace for 15 goals /82 games.

In the playoffs as a rookie, he was on pace for 20 goals /82 games

I am not sure that 20 goals a year is that much of a stretch for King at this point.

27 games is a really small sample size and an 82 game season is a really long time to maintain that sort of production.

Also, I'm going to ignore the playoff thing because if you're going to use that then that would mean Joel Ward would have justified his contract with Washington after his '11 postseason point production.

Also, with Penner resigned I don't see King seeing much time in the Top 6 alongside Richards unless an injury happens.

he's a 30+ goal scoring power forward, look at his age and size, very underrated hockey i.q as well.

I dunno about that but he's got the chops to be a third-line staple for a long time. I wish he'd play a little nastier, hopefully that'll come with time

King has a ton of potential, this move is a big steal. I was a little surprised he would sign for 2 years at so little, but I guess he was more concerned with securing a regular NHL paycheque, which can't really be overlooked considering he's still a pretty young guy. Considering he's just 23, is 6'3" 230 and scored 5 goals in the playoffs on a cup winning team (all in the 2nd round and later) I'd be very surprised if one of those 750k/yr seasons doesn't include a 20 goal season.

Kinger will be a force in the league for many years. Easily a 90-100 point player. 40 goals/50 assists next year. When the goalie sees his face, they will just move out of the way. Bank on it. AINEC. /thread. /site.
